Taylor release
Here is the release from UCLA about Ryan Taylor signing his letter of intent:
Ryan Taylor, an offensive lineman from Tyler College in Tyler, TX, has signed a national letter-of-intent to attended UCLA, head coach Rick Neuheisel announced today. Taylor, 6-3, 295 will be a junior and will have two years to play his two seasons. He is expected to enroll for Spring Quarter (March 30).
"Ryan is an important step in regaining our physical nature in the offensive front," said Neuheisel. "He is a great athlete and loves to play physical football. He also gives us another quality student-athlete from the state of Texas."

I love how CRN managed to squeze in the "another quality student athlete from the state of Texas." I wonder if he's trying to say that although he's going to recruit the heck out of So Cal, that he's also looking in other states...especially Texas.
If there is one thing that RN is great at that would be spreading the kudos around. Texas people will eat that little remark up and it will go a long way. He is brilliant with his remarks.
Does anyone know if UCLA is interested in Taylor's younger brother, who is supposed to be better than our recruit?
RN is a smart coach - he knows he needs a pipeline of recruits from outside of SoCal because recruiting is so competitive here. I'm looking forward to watching this team come together.
Does anyone know what the little blue symbols by some people's names are? Why aren't they next to everyone's?
Bailey,
I believe the blue symbols show up next to the posters you have signed up with a Moveable Type ID and password. If you don't have a blue symbol then you post anonymously.
Although Dohn won't admit it, he works so hard that he must have more monthly hits on his blog than all the other blogs combined. Bruins win again...
Getting a player out of Texas or one of the SEC states it's definitely a big deal.
A majority of coaches seem to want to build a local recruiting base before going out of state, it will be interesting to see if this will be the exception or more of a norm for Neuheisel.
We have a long history recruiting good players from Texas. Great to see that link being re-established. Rick is doing all the right things to make us truly competitive again. If things keep going this well, we will be a powerhouse within 3 years. I foresee Midwest 'Big Uglies' wanting to come here soon. Once they know we will play on a national platform and that we mean business, Palcic will pull some hefty nasties from that ample breeding ground. If I were a Wisconsin bulldozer, I'd rather play down here in the warm sunshine, surrounded by California girls, than stomp through 3 feet of snow just to get to practice. Could not be happier this Christmas. Go Bruins.
Who on the team is from Texas?
Aundre Dean and The Bosworths off the top of my head. I think Bruce Davis was from Houston, too.
Skip Hicks was from outside Dallas if you want to go in the wayback machine! And I was there when he made his triumphant return to the Cotton Bowl against A&M as he rushed back to the lockerroom to get his camcorder to capture the on-field postgame celebration.
BoBo Morgan is from Dallas. Oh, wait. . .
Maurice Drew is from Houston.
