Walker to have second interview with SDSU
DeWayne Walker will have a second interview, probably this week, for the San Diego State head coaching position, a source said. Also, the San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting that Dennis Franchione, the former Texas A&M and Alabama coach, is another finalist for the job and will interview again this week.

I wonder if any Aztec Boosters will spend the $1200 bucks on Dennis Franchione's "VIP Connection" newsletter.
If they pass on Walker they are fools
Good Luck Coach!
That is quite a fall from Texas A&M and Alabama to SDSU.
LAWYER JOHN
Many Aztec fans here seem fairly enthused about the prospect of landing DW. As far as the SDSU job, it is certainly not glamorous but not the dead-end position some on this board make it out to be. If DW can get 30,000 to come out to SDSU home games, keep players off the police blotter, and get SDSU to a lower tier bowl game, he will not only be considered a successful hire, but will have other HC opportunities open up. State has been beyond dreadful the last 3 years under Long so DW would have nowhere to go but up. He'll never get 4 and 5* recruits to come to SDSU but there are enough quality second tier athletes to compete in the Mountain West.
Coaches get hired and fired so quickly these days. UCLA's offense has no where to go but up and with Norm Chow at the healm, that'll happen. When UCLA starts winning games more Athletic Directors will notice D Walker. Even though he's dying to be his own Head Coach, he needs to hold out for a better gig. Two years from now would he rather be looking at a HC gig in BCS conference or just be starting to pick things up at SDSU. Walker should stay at UCLA for just a bit longer.
i completely agree Bailey! Give it one more year...UCLA wins 7-8 games and the defense looks even better with an improved offense supporting it..and DW will get a better gig. Makes sense to me.
did anyone realize that if he lands the job he will be paying against us for the opening game next year?
pff.. I'm not sure why everyone is convinced Walker would make a good head coach. Sure, he can coach defense, but does that mean he has the ability to govern an offense and an entire team for that matter? He has the Dorrell-esqe personality too. Quiet, no energy, no enthusiasm.
Oh well, at least we'll have Norton if Walker leaves... pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
My Passion Bucket has sprung a leak
I agree completely, VB. Just because CDW has had success as a D-Coord, it does not necessary translate to being a good HC. He may/he may not. I know one thing: If SDSU (PARTY!!!) gives him a shot, he'll still coach in the RB next year. Only this time, Chow's well-oiled Craft-y offense will run through over and around the Azs-tecs!
VB, "Ghost" must be Bahb or Ashley! LOL Those dudes are scary! Did they follow you from "Good point but . . ."?
VB I'm going to have to disagree with you here. Now, I agree Walker may not make a good HC, but he's definitely not like Dorrell. He lit a fire underneath the Bruin D 3 years ago and it's been a different unit ever since. He's intense and knows how to motivate - basically the opposite of Dorrell
Regardless, that does not necessarily translate into a great head coach. DeWayne will end up being like Norm Chow. He'll be known for his coordinating, but will fail terribly if he attempts to be a head coach.
Dennis Franchione -- from Texas A&M and Alabama to possibly SDSU. Wow...talking about a sagging career.
