Who needs tickets?

| | Comments (12) |

Here is a story I wrote for today's paper about tickets still being available for Saturday's USC-UCLA game, which also mentions how 25,000 tickets were given to USC to sell.
Also, there is a column written by Steve Dilbeck, my notes about UCLA players believing they can win because college football is crazy, and Scott Wolf's story about both teams wearing home jerseys.

I thought it was pretty clear when I wrote USC was given 25,000 tickets to sell.

O.K., no more Mr. Nice Guy. It is SUC-UGLA week and time to air it out.

First off, what is all the bruin hubbub over SC wearing its colors for this game? Geez, if world peace were declared today there would be bruins complaining about how it would negatively impact our military industry. Wearing home colors is not a new concept, one in which Carroll has long advocated, and one in which Neuheisel embraces as well. And I bet the forfeiture of timeouts will be waived, if not for this game, then very soon.

Second, this bruin compulsion of chastising Carroll is pretty funny. Of course its root cause is insane bruin envy and jealousy. And if Carroll were to read all these negative bruin posts about him I bet he would laugh out loud.

Good luck bruins.

How low can this program get? Cannot practically give tickets away against USC! Weak.

I have had four extra tickets for a month, no one cares.

If UCLA football was listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it would be delisted. Maybe even ask the gov't for a bailout.

I am actually looking forward to seeing the colors. I think it's cool even though the "real reason" for sc wanting to do this justs reeks of arrogance. I don't care. I will be at the Rose Bowl this weekend with my camera ready to take a picture of the scoreboard and the field when sc leaves as LOSERS!
I know it's a longer shot than 13-9 was 2 years ago, but I am a BRUIN. I BELIEVE in this team...as frustrating as they are this year. I'll be yelling "U-C-L-A" at the top of my lungs the whole game.
And sc fans should understand this kind of hope and loyalty. Isn't this how they feel about their basketball team after football season is over;-D

Were people asking how low the bball program could get when Howland took over? No, they gave him time to rebuild.

Give Slick Rick some time. We knew it was going to be a long year...

Never thought offense would be worse than the last few years, but it clearly is worse. I expected improved offense play, and improved QB play, by year end so we can get a preview of 2009. This has not happened, and I think those were modest goals....we are not doing a spread offense like Michigan.

We have had the same QB all year, and lineman have had experience now too. Craft has had three years of QB play since high school, sure all different schools, but he has college experience.

Craft might have some experience, but he just isn't a Pac-10 QB. He's busting his tail though and getting punished every week.

The fact is that he is in over his head. Throw in an inept line and you get chaos.

Its going to take a couple of years people..

lawyer john, the "hubbub" was not about seeing the ugly colors, it was about carroll basically saying "well, i wanted to wait till the end of the season to make sure, but you guys are so crappy that i dont even need 2 of my timeouts to beat the 30 point spread". obviously it pissed us off. and yes, we do envy your football program. every team wishes they didn't have to deal with rules or academic standards. what we don't envy are your second rate degree, your 3 note fight song, the skirt wearing mascott on the horse, the "school" in the ghetto OR your annoying homer sports writer.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
