Here is the 20th and final set of answers for today. I will be back Saturday with more sets:
What kind of strength program are the FB players on in the off-season?
Weight lifting and running. It is put together by the strength coach, Mike Linn.
Have Rosario and Moutra progressed enough to both start next year?
It’s a little early for that. Can we get through spring practice?
Are you concerned that CRN seems to be loading up on DB’s and safeties instead of the front seven?
He is trying to increase the speed every where, and more defensive backs are available. But I have a bit of concern at the lack of defensive tackles.
Will Donovan Carter get serious playing time in 2009?
Got me. Will there be many serious injuries in 2009?
What has changed or evolved the most in Howland’s coaching philosophy during his tenure at UCLA?
I think he’s the same coach he was when he got to UCLA. I don’t see any major changes.
Most people here seem to think “stealing” USC recruits is the best strategy. But why not start with Cal and Oregon guys, since those teams are pretty much 2 and 3 in the conference the past few seasons. What does Coach Rick think about that?
I don’t know what Neuheisel thinks about that, but I don’t think UCLA’s strategy is to steal USC’s recruits. If Morrell Presley was committed to Cal or Oregon, he would have still gone after him. Marlon Pollard is committed to Notre Dame, but UCLA is going hard after him.
What is the diference b/t a “defensive coordinator” and a “defensive assisstant head coach”? (Especially when the Head Coach will be calling the plays on defense).
In most cases, the defensive assistant head coach gets the title, and with that comes more money.
Any update on ATV or Reggie Carter? If not, when do they start to get the requested info back from the NFL?
I am trying to get that information. Hopefully, I will have it by the end of the weekend.
Would you say “pfffff” to the fact that Ryan Wright left UCLA to merely average 2.1 PPG at Oklahoma? Bad decision?
He needed to leave. He didn’t like Howland’s system, and he wasn’t right for the banging of it.
Any menu requests for next year’s opening tailgate? (We want to honor your success on the blog, Dohn Corleone).
Just that it isn’t 100 degrees out and doesn’t conflict with Rutgers’ game that week. But I don’t think those are menu requests.
Your favorite movie out of: Godfather, Goodfellas, Casino, Donnie Brasco, The Parent Trap (60s version), or Walle?
Goodfellas with a slight edge over the Godfather.
You predicted a Sweet 16 ending for our bball team in the past. Now that you have seemingly overrated us in your poll the last few weeks, could we possibly squeeze an Elite Eight prediction out of you?
Anything is possible. It depends largely on the matchups. And I don’t know if I predicted a Sweet 16 ending, although I do admit I think that is where UCLA could run into trouble.
What are the chances of getting Dan Guerrero to tailgate with us next year?
About the same as UCLA going undefeated and winning the national title.
