Answers, Part VII

Here is the seventh set:

is the coaching staff happy with the progress of DE Justin Edison? Will be factor into the DE rotation next year.
Not sure about Edison. I think he still has a lot to prove before he gets into the rotation, other than a few plays a game.

How man silent commits, if any, does UCLA have left out there?
I know of one.

Now that UW has apparently told Brandon Warner that he can enroll in the spring, is there any liklihood that RN could convince the UCLA academic people to allow Warner to enroll here in the spring in order to keep him from bolting to UW?
No, I don’t see that happening. I think if Warner wants to go to UCLA, he will have to enroll in the summer.

Are Neuheisel and Co. actively recruiting OL’s Evan Finkenberg and Josh Cabral from Tesoro?
They are looking at those players, but last I heard they were unsure whether or not they would make a move on either one.

Does UCLA have any chance with WR James Jackson, and OT Joel Gray who visited earlier?
I don’t think so with Jackson, but I was told UCLA was still pursuing Gray and was hopeful they could get him to switch from Texas Tech. I don’t think it will happen, but UCLA is still trying to get him.

Has UCLA offered 2010 DT George Uko?
I don’t believe he has an offer yet, but I expect that to change.

What is the fb coaching staff’s game plan from this point on in regards to OL recruiting?
I don’t think I understand the question, and I’m not being flippant. The staff is going to try and recruit the best players that they can get into UCLA. They will sell the offense, the vision of the program and playing for Bob Palcic and Norm Chow.

On another site, it was mentioned there is a mystery recruit in the trenches who is 50/50 and we’d be 9 out of 10 excited if he landed here: have you heard anything?
Yes, I have heard of him. I’m really not comfortable saying anything else because I don’t know the validity of it, and I don’t want to create a potential headache for the kid. But I am trying to get in touch with him.

Do you think UCLA (and Howland specifically) care who Arizona ultimately hires as its BB coach?
Yes, without question. A bad hire makes UCLA’s job easier, in recruiting and in coaching.
