Answers, Part III
Here is a story Jill Painter wrote for today's paper as UCLA hoops opens Pac-10 play.
Also, it is time for the third set of answers:
Would you promote Chuck Bullough to DC?
I'm not sure I would do that. I would definitely talk to him, but I'm not sure that would be the direction I would go.
How much would we have to pay Pete Carroll to come be our DC?
Remember the cost it is going to take to renovate Pauley Pavilion? Well, that's a start.
Did they serve pizza at the Papa Johns Bowl? Dr. Pepper?
Indeed, they did. It went well with our barbecue Wolf(pack) on a spit.
Other than Morrell Presley and Ryan Taylor, I lost track of which other recruits were scheduled to enroll in winter or spring quarters so that they would be there for spring ball. Richard Brehaut? Others?
Presley comes in next week, Brehaut and Taylor are coming in the spring, and there is a possibility defensive tackle Branden Warner will come in the spring.
Brian, is UCLA still recruiting OT prospect Chris Hubbard? Also is the coaching staff feeling good about landing Nik Abele?
The Bruins are keeping in touch with Hubbard, but he is not as high on their list as others. If Hubbard winds up at UCLA, it is because others turned the Bruins down. As far as Abele, I can't comment on how the coaching staff feels about him because that is an NCAA violation. However, I think there is a very good chance he winds up at UCLA.
Bullough solid coach
Backers play very well
Can he be DC?
Bullough possible
Should get interviewed for it
Don't see him as choice
Most impressive bball freshman outside of Jrue Holiday?
Right now I'm going with Drew Gordon because I like his athleticism, effort and energy. He really seems to be buying in to his role and what coach Ben Howland wants from him. I look forward to watching him develop the rest of the season.
How do you see the match between the Liverpool Reds and Real Madrid?
I think it is a tough draw for both sides, especially for the first round of the knock stage. I worry about Real Madrid's ability to score quickly, and from out of no where, and I give them the edge in goal. If Liverpool can play with relentless energy and get the first goal, I like their chances of bottling up Real Madrid.
Did Ken Norton Jr.'s comments all but seal any interest UCLA may have had in him as a DC candidate?
I haven't talked to Rick Neuheisel since the comments, but I think it would be very difficult for Norton to return to UCLA.
