Bell and Texas

UCLA running back Kahlil Bell was invited to the Texas vs. the Nation all-star game Jan. 31 in El Paso, Texas, but has not decided whether or not play in it. He is the only Bruins senior invited to a post-season all-star game.

That's awesome.

Maybe he is not feeling 100% and wants to recover for camps and future NFL possibilities?

what a joke, Harwell should be playing in a game

Maybe he doesn't need another game to show that he is done. He's slow and never lived up to the potential we saw in the Sun Bowl vs Northwestern.

Anonymous 10:21 p.m., thank you for your pointed comment. Your point is well taken.

Actually, let me just say in a few short words, that it would be loads of fun to see the FB Programme across town vs. the Nation all-star game. That would give another set of 15 practices to the Programme, whilst also giving all the reporters and voters another opportunity to see the Programme and be able to vote the Programme as No. 1 in the UPI voters poll. Thus, resulting in another split National Championship this year to add to the collection at Heritage Hall. Not to mention, Coach Pete Carroll would be able to his monetary incentives for bringing home another Split Championship, albeit one from UPI.

I must also add briefly that it is quite unfortunate that no other Bruin players were invited to all-star games. Brighand Harmwell sure deserved to be summoned to an all-star game. On the positive side, Sir Harmwell will be well rested for when he is summoned to the NFL tryouts at the behest of NFL coaches and scouts. Sincere best wishes to Sir Harmwell and Bell as they try to make it to the NFL.

One last brief point, be it also known to all here, and I have already advised the court, that I may be leaving the law office early today to rush home in time for the other "official" championship game. I hesitate to use the word "official" because I firmly believe that the Championship should be awarded upon the basis of UPI votes. In closing, I hope for a good game tonight. Cheers.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
