Night Owl (quasi) special
UCLA coach Ben Howland said he had no idea about it when I asked him Tuesday after the press conference, but center Alfred Aboya and point guard Darren Collison will establish a school mark when they play in their 131st career game Thursday at Arizona State.

Talk about a couple of True Bruins. I'll always root for them. Go Bruins!
that is awesome, they will always be part of the howland legacy, much like wooden's early players were.
a sweep this weekend would cement that legacy!
when ucla gets deep into the dance, that's a record that might last a long time,,,,,but hopefully not. :-)
Brian,
GET RID OF THAT ANNOYING KAISER AD. IT KEEPS POPPING UP EVERY 3 SECONDS NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I CLOSE IT COMES BACK. IF THIS GOING TO BE HOW THIS BLOG ADVERTISES I WILL GET MY NEWS ON BRUINS ELSWHERE.
Whats the NCAA mark? I can't imagine many players have had the opportunity to play more games that these 3-time Final Four (one of those +1 because we made it to the championship).
Any chance these guys will make the NCAA mark if we make it far?
From what I could find, I believe the NCAA record for career games played by an individual was 151 by Wayne Turner of Kentucky, 1996-99. Assuming DC and AA play the remainder of the year, that's 8 games left this season, plus 4 games if UCLA wins the Pac-10 Tourney--that puts them at 142. Then even if UCLA makes it to the Finals in the Big Dance, that only adds 6 more games for a grand total of 148, which is still three games shy of the record.
