UCLA gymnasts exposed to illness
The UCLA gymanstics team has been exposed to an illness, which the school did not reveal, and therefore its meet against Stanford on Feb. 8 was cancelled by the Pac-10. The team hasn't practiced for the last three days, although some members could return to practice as early as Thursday. Here's the release:
The Pacific-10 Conference has cancelled the Feb. 8 gymnastics meet between UCLA and Stanford at Stanford after the UCLA team was exposed to an illness last weekend. The health and safety of the afflicted UCLA student-athletes and those with whom they might come into contact guided the decision.
UCLA's practices were cancelled Monday through Wednesday of this week, with subsequent practices for any healthy student-athletes to be determined. Those not currently ill may yet develop symptoms.
It is anticipated that attention to symptoms and a week free of travel and competition will allow for recovery in time for UCLA's next meet against Washington, Boise State and Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 15 in Pauley Pavilion. Stanford still is planning a meet at the same place and time (2 p.m.), but with a different opponent to be determined.
The UCLA-Stanford dual meet will not be rescheduled, but the two teams will face each other at the Pac-10 Championships in Stanford on Mar. 21.

There is a bad cold going around but I'm guessing it's more serious than that. Hope it's not a staph infection.
Get well girls!
I heard they all got a nasty case of signing day fever!!
I hope you stay on top of this to find out what this (illness) is. The campus can be crowded and people are in close proximity to each other. Those of us who are students and work on campus would like to know what to look out for if symptoms take awhile. Athletes play "sick" all the time, so this is probably more serious. God knows that the school would be slow to the punch in alerting the UCLA community.
