Answers, Part III

Here is the third set:

What’s your initial expectation for next year if Holiday comes back?
For him to be the team leader, the leading scorer and contend to be first team all-Pac-10.

What have you heard on Arizona’s coaching search?
Money could be an issue with the hiring process. John Calipari, Rick Pitino and Jamie Dixon are names I keep hearing, but not realistic in my mind. However, one name I did hear recently was Lon Kruger. I could see that happening, but I’m not sure it would be a good hire.

Is it hard for players to switch from one position to another during a game, for instance moving from SG to SF or from PF to C? I would imagine switching between guard spots would be the hardest.
It is only difficult if the player hasn’t practiced at multiple spots, but if they have experience and practice at different spots, and have a decent basketball IQ, it shouldn’t be that hard.

Hoops: With Nelson and Lane coming in next year, do you see Drago playing more time at the 3, to give the defense a bigger, more physical lineup?
Possibly, but the question then becomes whether Dragovic can guard the three. He has trouble staying with undersized four men on the perimeter, so I cannot imagine what it would be like with him trying to guard a three outside.

Did you sense the Bruin players just accepted the hard fouls dished by ‘Nova early in the game or were they instructed not to retaliate?
How do you want them to retaliate? By fouling hard themselves. If UCLA was not an overly physical team this season, so it would have been out of character to commit a few hard fouls. Plus, UCLA had enough problems without getting called for an intentional or flagrant foul.

Did the players indicate those 2 early hard fouls intimidated them and set the tone for the rest of the game?
No, and rarely will a player do so. And I do not think the hard fouls meant anything in the outcome of this game. UCLA was losing this game regardless of the fouls.

I asked about Prince a few weeks ago and you noted he’d be given the same opportunity to win the QB job like anyone else. What (if anything) changed to bump him up to getting the “first shot” at winning the job?
The information I was given by sources changed.

While back in Filthadelphia, did you get the chance to visit friends & family in NJ?
I did. I stayed over a little longer to spend time and take a quick trip to Rutgers to see the stadium expansion and grab a meal or two off the grease trucks. (If you don’t know about the grease trucks, google it.).
