Here is a video of receiver Jerry Rice Jr., who is going to walk-on at UCLA:

I’m excited about this!

This is an excellent get for many reasons: Of course, there’s the name recognition aspect, but also, he’s got speed and excellent vision when it comes to seeing the field. He doesn’t rush the play but waits for it to unfold. And most importantly, he can continue a play after the catch and he likes to hit. Impressive.

Good hands, good moves … seems on the small side and a step slow. Remember, these game highlights are against some very small (questionable) talent schools.

Brian,
I have two quick questions.
1. Why wasn’t he recruited elsewhere?
2. Is his dad living in Los Angeles? It wouldn’t suck to have him at practices.

Reminds me of Roby Toma – but we will not have to burn a scholarship on him.

Dad wasnt very heavily recruited either. You dont end up at Miss Valley St because the “top” schools are beating down your door with scholarship offers.

not a freak athlete but is clearly a smart player with great awareness and field vision

Because Neu, unlike Dorrell, can recruit quality receivers, the days of walk on wide outs being needed to contribute are over. If Rice Jr. actually gets in a game, i’de be surprised.
