Night Owl Special

I wrote it for tomorrow’s paper, but thought I would give the night owls a tidbit. UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel is working on a one-year extension for Bruins offensive coordindator Norm Chow, who is already signed through 2010.

I dont know how UCLA is going to be able to afford him, but I sure hope Norm Chow sticks around UCLA.

    Thanks Dohn!

Dohn wouldn’t April Fool’s us on this would he? I don’t think so.

Why only 1 yr? Let’s give Chow a 10 year extension!

What else does Norm have to live for?! He’ll never be a head coach, and after having been fired from his last NFL gig, who’d hire him there? Are the pros that desperate?

  • Ryan

This would be huge. I think he would take a lesser deal for the opportunity to coach Prince/Brehaut for 3 years. Coaching a 4th heisman winner would cement his place in coaching history.

Coach Chow is a legend and i am sure the NFL will give him looks after this season. He’s one of the brightest in the business.

    Thanks, that dude…

I don’t know what I would’ve done without that sage and insightful chastisement.

I believe the Titans were paying his salary for 3 years. In the extension year, it all comes from UCLA’s pocket.

“I think he would take a lesser deal for the opportunity to coach Prince/Brehaut for 3 years”

Because they have so much potential?

  • BleedBlue

Chow is already cemented in coaching history as one of, if not the best offensive coordinators of all time.

    To Chow’s detractors above:

    1) Go to the UCLA Bruins sports section at ocregister.com and read the article, “Ten UCLA Bruins who would start at USC.”
    2) Go to the number one selection of the ten.

Enough said. Chow is an awesome coach. I hope he retires here.

Chow is now and always will be a legend

But that “Ten UCLA Bruins who Would start at USC” is pathetic.

Why not “Ten… who would start on an All-Conference team” or “Ten… who would go in the NFL Draft?”

Like being able to start at USC is the highest aspiration any of those players should have? The whole concept of that article is belittling to the UCLA Program as a whole.

I’m not going to continue the arguement with the one particular poster, but Dohn, we all appreciate your hard work and great reporting. Blog on!
