Pro day scuttlebutt

The buzz at UCLA’s pro day is many of the scouts came here to see defensive tackle Brigham Harwell. There is also interest in injured quarterback Patrick Cowan because of his size, arm strength and athleticism, but there are questions since he missed last season with a knee injury.
Cowan is here and will throw the ball today, but he is not doing any of the other testing drills.

    Patrick Cowan Arm Strength?

    Isn’t that an oxymoron? Hasn’t the beat on him by many people, including yourself Brian, always been that his arm is weak and suspect?

    I don’t recall saying Cowan lacked arm strength. In the past I said Ben Olson had better arm strength, but I don’t recall saying Cowan lacked it. I did say he lacked accuracy.

    In fact, its been reported by BD that the coaches all thought that Patrick had the superior arm strength.

    Actually, I remember Brian saying that PC had a better arm than BO, which is memorable only becuase it was not what I thought. That said, PC has made some really high RPM throws, such as against ND to Everett for that TD and on the third and long against SC. I wish that kid all the best.

    Man…. HARWELL did 36 reps.. Wow,that is second in combine. I know he is ready. I am going to SC Pro day today and see if any one tops Harwell reps.
