Answers, Part VI
Here is the sixth set:
How much does it burn Howland up inside that he couldn't close out a national championship in his 3 consecutive Final Four trips?
Personally, I think it is something that eats at him constantly. I don't know if he will ever say that, but knowing the type of competitor he is, I think it crushes him.
Assuming UCLA beat VCU by the time you answer this, did the coaches/team say prior to the game if they liked this 11 seed match-up better than the other potential 11 seeds (Temple, Utah St., Dayton)? Personally, I wouldn't have wanted to see Temple or Utah St.
No, VCU was the best No. 11 seed, in my opinion. They were big, athletic and playing with a lot of home fans in the building. Plus, VCU is very well coached.
I understand full well that the top 4 seeds in each region are "protected" and travel is minimized; UCLA has benefited in the past. But for Villanova to play on its defacto home court as a 3 seed seems to take things a little too far. What do you think?
I have no problem with that. I didn't hear UCLA fans complaining last year when they played in Anaheim. If teams have a problem with it, then do better during the regular season so it is not an issue.
It has been mentioned that the running back position is Christian Ramirez's to lose. He is listed at 6'2" 220 and I heard he recently ran a 4.56 during testing. With that size and speed what does the staff expect of him during the spring and upcoming season?
They expect him to run well, hold onto to the football, pickup blocks and catch the ball out of the backfield.
what kind of surgery did josh shipp have on his hips? was it a labral tear?
No, it was a labrum tear.
Could you please give us a rundown of what happens during a shootaround? Thank you.
Not much. They go over the game plan, what the other team likes to do and they take some shots. It is much like a football walk-through.
Which assistant coach was assigned to scout and create the game plan for the VCU game?
Donny Daniels scouted VCU. I don't think he comes up with the game plan. He just scouts them, and that lends itself to what Howland will use in the game plan.
Which assistant coach was assigned to scout and create the game plan for UCLA's 2nd round opponent?
Scott Garson scouted Villanova, and like the answer above, the game plan is up to Howland.

UCLA was a 1 seed last year. Big difference. Nova is a 3 seed this year as the person asking the question mentioned. You didn't answer his question regarding a 3 seed playing in a venue literally minutes from their home court. The other years, UCLA was a 2 seed. Again, big difference. Nova got a gift and it sucks. VCU got a gift too playing close to home...as an 11 seed? C'mon!
The NCAA protects the top 4 seeds in every region, as much as possible, in the first two rounds. They try to keep the top four seeds as close to home as possible.
That is how the committee does it. If UCLA was a four seed, they would have been in either Boise or Portland, plain and simple.
While we're on the topic, how does 8 seeded Ohio State end up in Dayton (which is a mere 71 miles away)?
And what, Dr. Dohn, is the significant difference between the terminology you use? It appears that you are trying to show the questioner that you know something about the difference between a labrum tear and a labral tear. However, according to the Mayo Clinic, there is very little difference. (see: http://mayoclinic.com/health/hip-labral-tear/DS00920) Johns Hopkins also uses the terms interchangeably: http://www.hopkinsortho.org/labrum_tear.html. Perhaps there's some subtle nuance that escapes me? Can you be more specific?

You are so smug and sarcastic sometimes. I think the repeated stupid questions are starting to get to you. HAHAHAHA!!!!
"They expect him to run well, hold onto to the football, pickup blocks and catch the ball out of the backfield."
DUH!!!! Hahahahaha!!!!
The West Regional, Regional Final, and Final Four should be at the Staples EVERY year. HAHAHAHA!!!! Plain and simple.
