More UCLA and Josh Smith
UCLA hoops target and Kentwood High (Kent, Wash.) center Josh Smith said no school is leading in his recruitment. He said a lot of schools are pursuing him "very hard,''
"Im considering UCLA as much as I'm considering any other school right now,'' Smith said. "All the schools are the same right now,'' Smith said. "I want a place where, outside of my basketball stuff, I can get a good education because I'll be living there for four years, at the max. I want somehwere I fit in and I feel comfortable going.''
"A city is fine. A small town is fine. It really doesn't matter to me.''
Smith said distance from home "isn't really a factor right now because I know my parents, if I'm close or away, they're going to still try and make every game. I don't think that will be a factor.''

Sounds like he is coming to UCLA!
I wonder if Bobos lack of playing time is raising a red flag for Smith...
Go Bruins!!!
maybe he doesnt want to comPETE!
oh wait, wrong blog
actually, i'd rather him be upfront about what he is doing, as he is. he deserves to be able to travel the country and look at different schools and find out where the best fit for him is. i hope he does pick UCLA, but these days we can't count them in until the LOI is signed.
Josh Smith is the real deal; #1 prospect (not center) on Rivals #4 at Scout for class of 2010. Bobo wasn't even in the top 100 AFAICR. Here's what Scout says about Smith:
Big kid, big improvements each year. Excellent student to boot. He's coming into his own. Great hands, seals and finishes and his lift has steadily improved. Basically, he's a landlord and takes care of the real estate in his area.
He'll start at any program in the country as a freshman. We'd be really fortunate to have him, even at one and done.
As in FB recruiting, it ain't over til it's over! How deep we run in this year's tourney is the most important factor, I think, in recruiting. While all the other stuff is nice, these 'student' atheletes want to go where there will get exposure. If we want to keep getting top 5 recruiting classes, we have to go deep in the tourney. Success breeds success.
As for Bobo, his lack of PT is on him and him alone. If pudgy works hard in the off-season (lean's out and adds some muscle) he will be a factor next year.
I just H-A-T-E one-and-dones! Arghhhhh!
NOTE:
he said "Im considering UCLA as much as I'm considering any other school right now".

it's UCLA

Not that recruiting rankings are the be-all-end-all but Bobo was ranked the #3 Center by Scout and Rivals and was given the same grade (96) by ESPN as Drew Gordon.
I still have high hopes for everyone from the 08' class. Howland was able to turn Hollins and Mata-Real into quality players. Who knows what he can do with Bobo if given a couple more years to work?
"Im considering UCLA as much as I'm considering any other school right now".
yeah he a lock for UCLA! sheesh, reading comprehension is not your greatest attribute.
get a clue, he is considering everyone at this point and it will probably come down to UCLA and UW in my opinion.
The main thing that we get from this and it may be too crptic to you Bruin fans. His parents will want to see every game in person. No, they are not spening their money flying to LA and every place in between. They are simply going to be driving a few minutes away to the UW campus. SOrry guys. Ill put money on it..
Josh is my cousin... I am happy he is now at UCLA... can't wait to see him ball!
