Here is the 11th set:
Do you know whether or not Coach Neuheisel has approached Jonathon Ogden to see his interest in being a graduate assistant on the staff and if so does he have room for him?
I have not heard anything about it. I will check into it and see what Neuheisel says.
How does Frank Ganz and the UCLA staff determine which players will play on special teams specifically kick off’s and kick returns? Is there something specific they are looking for?
They don’t want guys who are burning their red-shirt years to do it, and they want fast and athletic guys to run down the field and make tackles. On the return side, they want blockers out front and speed in the back.
Has UCLA sought “stimulus” funding from either the state funds given by the federal governemt or the federal government directly for the Pauley rebuild?
I don’t know if they sought it, but I have not heard of anything like that transpiring.
Any reflective thoughts regarding Nick Adenhart?
I am saddened by it, and angered by it. I despise drunk-driving. I find it despicable.
JHoliday waiting til June? Generally, can’t be too critical, but don’t you think if he has to wait until June to decide to go pro, he’s not ready to make the jump? I’m sure Howland’s helping him alot, but what’s JH doing to help Howland waiting that long? Selfish???
I agree if he has to wait until late June to make the decision, it could be kind of late and signal he may not be getting the feedback he wants. However, I believe Jordan Farmar waited until June to make a decision, and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute also waited until June to make a decision. Do you consider them selfish?
I heard from a fairly reliable source that a famous trojan/49er/father of a past UCLA player, was spoken to a few months ago about a coaching position at UCLA. Did you hear anything about this, or is this banter?
I don’t want a fairly reliable source. I want a great source. I never use fairly reliable source. And I have not heard about this, other than the offseason banter between the staffs in this matter.
Why would we wait until we know whether Jrue is leaving to decide to go after another guard, when we tried to get Gaddy before we knew whether Jrue was leaving? Would we have just told Jrue to go if we had gotten Gaddy?
Because at this late juncture, UCLA has no scholarships available unless Holiday leaves. And Gaddy is the type of talent a program finds room for, and can plan for, not to mention I believe UCLA got Moser after Gaddy. So, a scholarship was available when UCLA was pursuing Gaddy.
It is being reported that Jrue Holiday will stay in the draft if he receives a guarantee of being a lottery pick. Is there any truth to this report and do you think he will receive such a guarantee?
Well, here is what Holiday told me, and what I reported in the paper and online:
“If I can go in the lottery this year, I think I’m going to stay in and try it.”
So, if you believe the kid, then believe the report. And I have no idea if he will receive such a guarantee. If I knew that, then I’m guessing Holidays and UCLA would also know, so a decision wouldn’t be hard to come by.
