Answers, Part IX

Here is the ninth set:

Do you think that the injuries that have plauged the O-Line have anything to do with conditioning or lack there of? Are the guys given ample time to stretch out and warm up before actual one on one’s?
I don’t think it has anything to do with conditioning. The injuries are ankle injuries, and there really isn’t much more to it other than a bad happenstance.

Hey Dohn which of the incoming freshman defensive backs (if any at all) do you see playing this upcoming season? The film I have seen of Pollard and Price is quite impressive.
I think it depends on injuries and the development of the guys currently in the program. If one guy has to play, I’m going with Price.

How’s is that potential game at the Georgia Dome in 2010 shaping up? I’d love to see a game against Tenn or Miami to announce the arrival of the next UCLA era! Any progress or chatter going on?
I think the Georgia Dome thing is dead, and right now any talk of a marquee game between UCLA and another program is non-existent.

I asked last time about Johnathon Ogden and whether Coach Neuheisel has tried to talk him into coming back possibly as a GA in the near future…ever get a chance to ask him? Thanks!
I was told there was nothing going on there.

Brian does UCLA have any chance at Seantrell Henderson? and do you see us updating or getting a alternate uniform for football anytime soon?
I don’t think Henderson winds up at UCLA.
As for new uniforms, I reported a while ago UCLA was looking at an alternate uniform dating back to the Gary Beban era.

Assuming that Dean and Maiava are healthy, what’s the depth chart for the offensive line?
To be honest, I cannot get into it because of some things I know about experiments that may take place. But Maiava will be the starting center and Dean will be the backup.

Every so often you’ll mention spotting a particular recruit at a practice or a game. With so many new recruits in both basketball and football each year, how are you able to recognize their faces? Do you go to their high school games?
It is my job to know who the players are. (By the way, it helps that many of them wear name tags when they get to practice.)

Between Prince and Brehaut, who seems to exhibit more leadership qualities and who seems able to motivate the offensive line and the offensive team as a whole? In other words, who is the team more responsive to?
Prince is the better leader right now, but it is an unfair comparison. Prince knows the system, and the players, and Brehaut probably still doesn’t know where all the buildings are on campus. And if it takes a quarterback to motivate the offensive line, and the offense on a whole, to play better, I think the team is sunk.
