Terrific achievement. Difference between the cross-town rivals is that one may have academic achievers while the other has athletic achievers. One team produces good grades while the other produces good pro athletes. One may play football for UCLA to rely on the education, while one may play football for USC to rely on the future career in the NFL.

Kids that choose USC do so because they want to develop an athletic career not an academic one. And in turn they make millions in the league. Unless you're quarterback Mark Sanchez who maintains a high GPA as well as a high pro draft stock.

another difference is that suc(k) 'student-athletes' may incur the wrath of holier-than-thou narcs who tattle on them like someone who chirped on reggie about his pay-for-play in the form of free rent for momma and poppa remora.

trojansc10, It's easy to get good grades in SC...they aren't as competitive UCLA.

These guys set a good example showing that they are capable of getting good grades. I don't think Sc (or Sc students) should be proud that their athletes get ready for the NFL, therefore they don't need good grades. It's just not right, and it only shows why Sc will never be a higher ranked school than UCLA because of comments like that because it emphasizes that Sports come first. You're a football team first for some odd reason.

USC and UCLA should be SCHOOLS first and everything else second.

And also things have changed, UCLA is much more talented then it was the last few years. They have had either a top 15 recruiting or top 5 recruiting the last two seasons. And they will maintain rankings in recruiting for many seasons to come.

UCLA will continue to have better grades and eventually better athletes. We're going to have both rather than one or the other.

And why do Sc fans read this blog anyway? Are they threatened or self-conscious so that they have to come here and make silly little statements? They have a good football team.......ok that's fine, but they know that's all they have, everything else UCLA has gotten them beat and they have to convince themselves and make them selves feel better by trying to upset some Bruins fans.

GET A LIFE you SUC SCUM!!! Not you particularly tro10 but the rest of the idiots you come to upset people.

GO BRUINS!!!!

not sure if trojansc10 was trying to humiliate UCLA or USC on that one...
but i know this... premier programs may fluctuate over the years, but the education you receive from UCLA will not.

Brian, how about charging people to be able to post (premium service)? Who says newspapers don't have new revenue streams available?

I don't care about the grades they get. I only care about winning football games. If grades really mattered they would put a bunch of med students and engineering students on the football field.
