Chandler's position change
Nate Chandler, who began the spring as UCLA's starting right tackle, is back at tight end as the Bruins search for help for the injured Logan Paulsen.
I was told Chandler will remain at tight end until it is known how long Paulsen will be out. Paulsen, who injured his foot in Saturday's scrimmage, is expected to have a CT-scan in the coming days.

can a 290 pound kid really play tight end?
Wasn't he projected as a starter? This seems nutty to move him back after having him gain 40 pounds for the position.
C'mon CRN - give this kid your "final answer." Pick a position and give him a chance to excel.
This back-and-forth has got to be killing the kid - bulk up, slim down.
Are Moya, Harkey, Miller, and Presley, the wrong kind of depth?
Meh, it is just spring practice, and as coach Chow puts a lot of emphasis on blocking, they probably want a tight end that can kick ass and take names on the line of scrimmage.
I know Moya is a great TE, but he's more the receiving type. I think Harkey is more of an all purpose TE like Logan. Presley sounds like he'll be everywhere but TE next season. I don't know anything about Miller. Besides when/if you run 2 TE sets and you aren't planning on throwing the ball, you might want some big bodies in there.
Moya is hurt. He had surgery before spring practice and won't be ready until the summer.
After watching last years collapse it appeared to me and everyone else it seems that O-Line was far and away our greatest need. Is it time yet to start raising hell with Addidas??? We have recurring foot issues here and those feet are wearing Addidas!
Can I be an optimist and say that this means the rest of the O-line is looking good enough to allow Chandler to switch back? Please?
Chandler needs to stop being moved around all the time. If he really was our projected RT, I would think that is more valuable than a 2nd or 3rd string TE. Give him an actual chance to learn the position, flip flopping between positions can't be good for him.
After watching spring drills and the scrimmage on sat., Chandler still looks over matched at tackle. He was getting beat on a regular basis it seemed. Neu wouldn't be moving him back to TE if he was excelling at tackle.
Yes TruBruin is right! Adidas equipped teams really have gone downhill in the past 10 years and I think they are not getting the right fit on our guys!!
See this article about our foot injuries:

I can't believe we put up with this kind of support from Adidas:
'Nike poured millions into more research and development, widening its soles, changing its shoe construction and using more high-tech materials that were both lighter and stronger. The results were improved performance as well as reduced injuries.
Adidas, which did not respond to repeated requests for an interview, has not had an on-campus shoe liaison working at UCLA as it has had in prior seasons. So when Bruins coach Rick Neuheisel said, "We're looking into the shoes," at the start of fall camp, he had nowhere to turn.'
More proof that Adidas is slacking

Plus we should have this group of podiatrists to get involved quick!

Brian or Jill, can you do a follow up on this to see if there is anything behind these injuries as it's getting ridiculous with the good players we keep losing to foot injuries!!
I LIKE IT! Put another BIG on the line and protect the QB. You know how much it has cost us when the QB gets thrashed about -- sacks, huge losses, and injuries to boot.
