Forcier and the Cougs
UCLA quarterback-turned-receiver Chris Forcier is still boycotting the media, nearly two weeks into spring practice, but I talked to a few sources who said the University of Houston has inquired about Forcier, who still may transfer so he can play quarterback.
Forcier was also looking at Purdue and Ball State, according to sources.

"So long, fare well, best of luck"
The flu will spontaneously end when he has a school to transfer to . . . . .
C-Force has become C-Farce.
Didn't Dohn say Forcier was in the hospital? I don't think Forcier was faking it.
He just really wants to play QB
Oh, I forgot, malingerers don't check into the hospital to continue their ruse.
If he just really wants to play QB, so be it. It just won't happen at UCLA. I truly beleive ALL coaches (even Karl Dorrell) want to put the BEST talent on the field to have the BEST chance of winning. (I think KD sometimes didn't properly evaluate his talent). So, if a player is recruited and comes to any school, he has to PERFORM in practice to prove he deserves playing time. So, all of this talk about depth and too many runnign backs and too many QBs is really just nonsense. If C-Force was the best QB at UCLA, he'd be #1 on the depth chart. If he is BEHIND Prince, Brehaut and (gulp) CRAFT, then I say don't let the door hit you on the way out

NCAA football is big business and there isn't much of an opportunity to wait for things to click. Maybe getting first team reps at another school will give him the opportunity to become a good QB - it wasn't in the cards for him here. Even Prince wasn't the #1 QB last year - maybe he just needed more reps and more time to learn the assignments and playbook. Good luck to Chris...no need to call him names just because he isn't willing to switch positions. Imagine if you were in college and they came to you "Hey, we realize you are in the Engineering Dept. but we really need a boost in our History program. Switch majors for us".
A bit different switching positions and switching majors.
IMO, he is malingering while trying to find the right school to transfer to. Just my opinion.
I have little tolerance for scholarship atheletes that are unhappy with PT, position, etc. Like everthing else in life, you must perform or you are out. Sometimes life isn't fair and the undeserving prevail, but usually it's survival of the fittest.
I don't like the game playing. Agsin, my opinion, he has the flu like I have a trillion dollars.
damn forgot the UEFA games are today
Liverpool 2-0 looking good at half Dohn!
doh! 2-1 as i type this
UB, you may be right and are entitled to your opinion, but I don't agree that Forcier's doing anything wrong or that there's a conspiracy. Neu has agreed to let him practice as WR - what sense does it make for Forcier to have "the flu"? Why not show up, stay in football shape and continue to search for another school that would take him as QB? If there's any conspriacy I think it would be that Neu has asked him not to participate while looking for another school and "the flu" is just an easy excuse for Forcier to come back if it doesn't work out and Neu to let him come back with minimal interruptions. Heck, we're one Prince shoulder injury and one Craft interception-fest away from him being back on the 2-deep! I love the whole "take one for the team" attitude but I think he has a right if he was recruited at QB to want to continue to be a QB and UCLA has a right to say that it won't be at UCLA...it seems like that's the way it's playing out so I'm not sure what the problem is...
Hey Dohn,
Hope your feeling better. I think I missed something; how come Forcier isn't a contender to start at QB here at UCLA? I understand it would be a competition for him, but whats the story? Why not compete?

I was a big supporter of 'The Force' before he enrolled at UCLA. Dynamic player, but obviously he is best suited to a 'spread-type' offense. He will do well within that sort of a system. Too bad New Mexico State don't run it. D Walker could sure sure a player of Chris' caliber. Mebee CRN could help the kid and give Walker a call on his behalf. Twouldn't hurt us and it might help 2 struggling entities plus open a ride for us. Good luck in your endeavors, Chris.
Mike H,
I never said there was a conspiracy. That would need a co-conspirator, and I know of none. However, C-Force attended one practice, showed speed but baubled the ball. Then, he came down with the "knock-you-on-your-azz-out-for-a-week" flu. So, I am surmising/speculating/opining that C-Force: (1) doesn't like playing WR (reasonable); (2) doesn't want to practice at WR if he wants to play QB (reasonable); and (3) doesn't want to quit the team for fear it will look like he is a quitter to potential takers (reasonable).
He has a self-imposed media gag-order which, IMO, is to avoid answering the tough questions.
UB,
Sorry if "I'm faking flu (including having the coach say I'm in the hospital) because I want to be QB somewhere else rather than WR here" sounds like a conspiracy theory to me.
Again, not saying that he isn't working on a transfer...clearly he would jump if offered a QB shot somewhere else. I don't see any advantage from his perspective to avoid practice with a fake flu. Hmmm, practice with a D1 BCS school and keep my options open or sit practice out? I don't buy it.
If Forcier couldn't crack the rotation last year in our abysmal offense, what makes him think that things are going to be different somewhere else? Just look at his brother Jason. He started off at Michigan, never played and then went to Stanford and got lost on that depth chart as well. It only makes sense with him being a redshirt sophmore, and the fastest person on the team, to remain at his current wide reciever position. There is much more upside with his athleticism and speed than with his side-arm release as a QB.
I believe that Forcier's best chance of playing QB would be to transfer to a 1AA program (or whatever it is called now) so that he doesn't have to lose a year. If he leaves, I think that we have to wish him well, but if he stays, I hope that he can become more then a 4th stringer. With his physical ability, he should be an impact player at some position.
