I talked to UCLA freshman guard Jrue Holiday, who said he was testing the NBA draft waters. Here is a story I wrote for online.

Weak draft - he's as good as gone.
Collison is projecting in the top 10 right now - JRue will be in the lottery for sure.
This is no surprise. What does he have to lose by declaring without an agent? NOTHING. He gets a free evaluation from the NBA -- hopefully realistic -- and can then decide if he wants to jump now or wait another year.
All of the homers that say he is not ready are just that -- homers. Jrue has the POTENTIAL fro a long and prosperoud career in the NBA. Unlike Tyler Hansbrough who had to stay all 4 years. Where else was he going to go? Aren't too many 6'8" power forwards in the NBA. On the other hand, Jrue has the size and skill to be a pro player.
Learn to live with it, homers. This is the current (sad) state of affairs with the NBA 19 YO and one year removed from HS rule.
If he goes, I wish him all the best. If he stays, I wish him all the best. Jrue, if you are reading this, do what is in YOUR best interests, man. Good luck!
Johhny, you are correct. If he is projecgted by the scouts as a Lottery Pick --- hasta la vista, baby! And can we blame him? I am through with the gut-wrenching over one-and-dones. I gave it all with the K-Love bolt last season. So, now I look at it differently. Take what we get for one year from this Lottery-type players and MOVE ON! (Not to be confused with that scumsucking worthless pile of humanity known as MoveOn.org)
What does he have to lose by declaring without an agent?
You can only go through the process once without having to keep your name in the draft. So if he comes back and has another rough year next year he can't test the waters he has to go or not.
Sorry, Anon 3:13, but he has NOTHING to lose. Your point is without merit. Surely, if he backs out this year, he WILL NOT back out next year. There is no chance in Westwood that Jrue stays for his Junior season. He is either gone now or next year.
Thank you for your great effort this year Jrue. Good luck in the NBA draft and please sign with an agent soon.
Go Bruins!!!
this is all so dumb i hate it. i changed my mind, they should just let them go to the nba right out of high school, and if they play college hoops it should be like at least a 2 year requirement...this one and done junk is pure grrrrr something is so whacked out beyond all recognition... its making this concept of a place of higher education a complete joke. a joke!!! people of lesser places (like $c) dont care about things like that, but we do... err, dont we?

See the difference?
No anon. No difference. Love and Holiday are two different players, playing different positions, with different role players around them.
What is the SAME is that both have POTENTIAL in the NBA and will seize the opportunity.
Stop apologizing for Jrue. He had a disappointing year, time to move on.
I am not apologizing for a kid that is about to become a millionaire because he has marketable skills in the NBA. No apology is necessary. And I don't think even Jrue will be saying 3 'mea culpas' on the way to the bank, the car lot and the jewelry store.
No! As of today, he DOES NOT have a whole lot of marketable skills to play in the NBA. He DID NOT prove much in college that justifies a good enough reason to be drafted this year, even in the second round.
rejn, please! Your post proves one thing. You will NEVER have a career as a pro scout. You look only for stats, not potential.
If Holiday is a lottery pick, where does that put DeRozan? The number one pick? Please, don't make me gag.
Who wants to be a scout? Not me! Given the way he played this year, he's NBA material? Absolutely NOT! What happened? Was he transformed in the past two weeks? Where was that during the season? Consistently. If he can't do it game in and game out for 32 games a season, why should anyone think he can do for 82 games?
wow rejn is pretty dumb...LOL
Griffin will be the #1 pick and DeRozan will be a TOP 15 pick.
Good for him. Hopefully he is good enough to make some money in the Australian league because the dude is not going in the first round. As the leader of Ucla he couldl be a top 15 pick or better next year. F this kid. Can we pull his ride now? I have no tolerance for stupidity. His mom wants to make 10% of Holiday's $30K he'll make this year or 10% of Holidays' 10M he'll make next year if he stayed? Stupidity. Let him go. Have fun idioit.
