Neuheisel on Forcier's future

| | Comments (9) |

UCLA quarterback-turned-receiver Chris Forcier's media boycott has lasted throughout the spring. I have requested to speak with him every day he was at practice, and each day was told he was not talking to the media.
Therefore, I asked coach Rick Neuheisel if he expected to have Forcier on the roster in August (and keep in mind scholarships are renewable on a yearly basis).
"Those are individual decisions,'' Neuheisel said. "Obviously, he's going through a transition, and I'll talk to him like I talk to all the players after spring (practice) to let them know where I think they are and what I think they need to do to develop in our program.
"If he has any other ideas, I'm sure he'll share them with me at that time."

I missed all this, is he disrupting the actual team or just not talking to the media?

I'm not sure why this is a story. Leave the poor kid alone - he's obviously in a tough spot and won't likely be a factor on any college football team moving forward. Repeated requests to talk are sort of like pouring salt in an open wound.

I find it relevant because UCLA is currently over the scholarship limit, and if Forcier transfers it would ease the burden.
Also, the media is being told each day that Forcier isn't ready to talk yet. We are not being told he will not talk, so I need to ask for him each day. Otherwise, the day I do not ask may be the day he decides to talk.

Maybe he doesn't want to pass on the 'knock-you-off-your-feet-take-me-to-the-hospital' Flu to Dohn or any other member of the media.

As I opined a few days ago, I believe Forcier never had the flu (or just a mild case). He has no where to transfer apparently and didn't really feel like changing to WR. So, he felt 'sick' so he could have an excuse not be be at practice, while at the same time keeping up the ruse that he was still on the team and a team player, in case some other potential transferee school was watching.

Bye-bye Chris.

If Forcier is the only option to free up a scholarship, then I see the point. If not, it's just chasing an already beat-up rabbit down a hole. Out of curiosity, what's the big burning question for him? Are you transferring? Are you playing WR? Are you giving up your scholarship? I think I can wait to hear the answer to all of these questions.

Like I sayed afore...cut the colt loose and mebbee he'll find a home on Coach Walker's New Mexico State range. Reckon he'd pump up their offense some and give us another ride. Everbody wins.

...so Dohn doesn't get an interview from a kid and now wants him transferred?

what's wrong with an athlete not wanting to talk to the media?

Mr. Dohnass needs to stop pressuring the kid everday...He probably has nothing to share at the moment and doesnt want the media to spin in it whatever way possible they like, which currently seems pretty negative. I am sure the kid has looked at some of Dohnass's comments about himself so he probably is just telling him to f*$koff by not interviewing with him. Also the fact that some of these comments about accusing the kid not being sick are just pathetic. I feel like the kid is our scapegoat for having yet again a shitty season! He is not the reason our team sucks right now! Everyone needs to move on from this irrelevant story and focus on the future.
