QB prospect to watch

Steamboat Springs (Colo.) High quarterback Austin Hinder is expected to make an unofficial visit to UCLA within the next week, and it could be significant. My understanding is he is high on the Bruins' list when it comes to the class of 2010 prospects, and UCLA may make a move on him.

One has to think that having Norm Chow as our OC helps the recruiting of these top QBs.

Rodney,
That article is from January 2008, which is the last time the majority of people believed Norm could build a Heisman champion on his own.

I think recruits are more in a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately mindset. And Norm wasn't able to do anything with any of the QB talent he's had at UCLA lately.

exactly - kids these days are too stupid to take notice of 6 first rounders over 3 decades and will judge chow and the program by one lousy season with players recruited by a perennial loser.

Ms. Jackson,

Is there another person you'd like to have as your offensive coordinator? Also, what apparent talent has Norm been working with at UCLA?

Unfortunately Vin,
Kids are more likely to look at what school most of those first rounders came out of and give it's head coach credit. Pete Carroll's flash outshines Norm Chow's substance.

A couple thoughts on the recent comments here:

1. Vin - It's hard to point out Norm Chow's past success without shining a light on the Trojans. On the flip side, a player has to seriously a) have a pair or b) have a screw loose to think he can compete with the QB beast that is Matt Barkley from 2010/11 'til 2013/14 at USC.

2. bruinoc - There's nobody just about any NCAA football fan would rather see than Norm Chow as their team's OC. Problem is, unless UCLA is going to pony up some serious cash then Norm isn't going to be around much longer.

i was mostly responding to jackson and pointing out that one year with someone else's players is not enough for anyone to judge chow - particularly after so much success, at sc and elsewhere. no argument here that we will continue to lose most head-to-head recruiting battles with sc, but having chow is a huge asset. that being said, a couple more dismal years and it probably won't matter much who we've got...
