Tony Gonzalez and the Bruins
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez, a former Cal player was at practice and spoke to a large group of Bruins after practice.
His message was one of preparation, both mentally and physically. Gonzalez spoke about the importance of preparing during the week by watching film and practicing hard, and also about taking care of your body.
He was there as a guest of former UCLA and Chiefs assistant Jon Embree, whose son, Taylor, is a Bruins receiver. Jon Embree is expected to join UCLA's staff shortly as a graduate assistant.

Awesome! Nice to get guest like this.
pretty sweet
Afterwards he was heard to remark "The practices are much more animated at USC, they really hit over there
This is GREAT!!!!
How cool is that !!!
Around 2001, Tony Gonzalez was playing pickup basketball games at The Sports Club Irvine before fall camp. I had a steal and was going in from the top of the key for a perceived easy layup. Tony took off from half court full speed and blocked my layup. It was the most awesome play that I've ever been a part of as a gym rat for over 25 years...he's such a great athlete. I would have dunked it but I am only 5'8'...
Gonzalez is a long-time South Bay resident who has played pick up games at a local gym here for some time. He loves to get the kids involved, often asking him to lob him a pass for a dunk, which was a thrill for my son several years back. He even donated a basketball to our church for a silent auction. Great guy!
If he comes back today, someone let him know he scored a couple touchdowns for me on NFL head coach 06 last night for me. Tell him thanks!
