Xavier Thames and UCLA

With Tony Bennett leaving Washington State and heading to Virginia, there has been rumblings of Xavier Thames being linked to UCLA.
A story in the Seattle Times says Thames' AAU coach said Marquette, Iowa, UCLA, Florida and Iowa State are interested in Thames.
Here is a link to the story.

His ESPN write-up is very glowing fwiw. Here is a sample.

"Thames is one of the top sleepers in the class of 2009. He is a combo-guard with very good quickness and speed with the ball. In addition, he has a solid frame with fairly long arms. Thames is much more of a scorer at this point, but he will find the open man as well. He has a quick first step to the basket and possesses a real knack to score or draw the foul in traffic."

If he was willing to play for Bennett then he would fit right in with Howland.

Brian - link doesn't work for me this (Sunday) morning - story may have been taken down.

Steve, I think he's 6'3" - if Jrue leaves, he'd be a terrific addition but with Ben not knowing for another two months, seems unlikely to me that it wil happen

I think there is a big difference between highlighting a story that another newspaper ran (rumor or otherwise) versus starting your own rumors/printing something you can’t verify etc.

No there's not.

That we don't print rumors in this blog. Unless somebody else started the rumor. Then we can print it all we want since we take no responsibility for somebody else's irresponsible actions. That is what "professional" journalists do nowadays. Apparently it's OK to print other people's rumors. We just don't report rumors ... I think that's what we do here.

Is it any wonder the newspaper industry is soon to join the dinosaurs?

Is it any wonder Dohn and the rest of the Daily News staff will be filing for unemployment soon?

I heard that Nelson is not happy with the selection of Howland, and we may loose him.
