Carroll brings the speed
Here is a story I wrote for today's paper on former UCLA star James Washington's free youth camp, which attracted kids from all over SoCal.
Also, UCLA signee Randall Carroll, a receiver from Los Angeles Cathedral, won the CIFSouthern Section Division III 100 meters (10.39 seconds) and 200 meters (20.93). He is the defending state champion in both races.

Great article and great cause. I think that this is a big move in the right direction for the program, but it is also very important for the kids. Good job to all the staff and players.
what does division III mean? is he competing against the state's very top best?
If i'm not mistaken Sheldon Price, another UCLA FB signee(DB) finished second to Carroll in both of those races. seems like we finally have some speed in this incoming class.
Damien Thigpen is also currently 2nd in the state of Va in the 300 hurdles and ran a 10.53 100m earlier this year.
Div III just means he's from a smaller school. At the state championship all the divisions race together in the same race.
He currently has the fastest time of all divisions in the state in both the 100m and 200m
Randall Caroll's times actually is the fastest in the nation for boys track and field.

Damien Thigpen is still have his race coming up this week. He's just been named area track and field athlete of the year.

I so can't wait to see him running the 100M and 200M for the men's Track & Field team!!! About time we got some more speed out ther!!!!!
Carroll's 100 and 200 times are faster than anyone on the current UCLA track team. Are his hands as good as his legs?
Am I the only one that recoiled after having read the post title? Don't DO that Brian!
Great news. Speed kills.
I'm glad to see we have a speedster in the group!
And, 1998bruin: I did NOT recoil. I never thought for a moment that Carroll was dealing to the FB team.
Secondly, I doubt seriously that Brian writes his own headlines. It is pretty common that he writes the text and others at the DN headline the story or blog commentary. If BD had to write all his own headlines, I think he would want a raise!
...so, Bruins are going to be cheering for someone with the last name "Carroll"?
Here are some videos of Carroll's races last Saturday from dyestatcal.com:
