Holiday and Sactown

Got a text late last night that UCLA guard Jrue Holiday was going to be working out for the Sacramento Kings today. The Kings have the fourth pick in next month's draft.

Yep- considering most of the mocks out there have him going to the Bucks at #10(they apparently are impressed with UCLA talent), I think that it is safe to assume that he'll stay in the draft- and really, why shouldn't he?

Good point DB - Skiles loves defensive minded players. No one ever accused Michael Redd or Damon Jones of playing great defense. All the best to JH in the Association.

Wow!! The number 4 pick team is interested. I don't get it, but I'm not paid to.

The Kings have the 4th and 23rd pick in the first round which could indicate they are looking at him for the 23rd pick more likely.

Four? FOUR? No one has him that high; ahead of Curry, Jennings, Ty Law and countless other SGs, PFs and such. I don't get it.

Looks like Jrue will be leaving this year, good luck to him and I hope that he gets picked as soon as possible! I would be very happy for him if he does go #4!

Just because he's working out for the Kings doesn't mean he's going to Sacto. Teams may package picks/players and trade up for the 4 spot. Sacto needs to know what Jrue is worth in case these scenarios come up. If they like him but don't think he's worth a 4, they can trade down to get Jrue plus picks/players.

Bgirl,,,,Jrue is a pg not an sg. Consider that the L is becoming a PF league and shooters are a dime a dozen, makes Jrue more interesting than either Lawson or Jennings, BOTH OF WHOM HAVE NO CONCEPT OF THE WORD "DEFENSE",,,besides Lawson being a midget and Jennings being all about himself.

It's time to disregard Jrue's numbers at UCLA and focus on his pedigree and youth. And he also said the 6'3" is his old high school height and that he's now 6'4", making him even more desirable as a pg. He also stretches loooong.

This is a bad draft year as expressed by everyone and gm's alike, making this an excellent year for Jrue to pull the trigger. At 18, Jrue is practically at high school age.

Brian,,,do you know who Jrue has worked out for, and when the combines will start?

mistake,,,I meant the L is becoming a PG league, of course.

i dont think anyone was "worried" about Jrue going #4.

Depressing, since I really want him to stay. But if he goes this year, I hope he goes early.

miltk, I hear you though Ty and Jennings are listed as PGs in the draft. I must admit that if he's a true 6'4" and still growing then he has Deron W potential if he can figure out how to shoot. But, if he stays, he could be the number one pick next year. Just hoping of course

oh yeah, Im driving over to SMF and picking him up. Jrue would be great for my Kings, who are seriously lacking at the PG position. I was hoping for Ricky Rubio, but with our bad luck dropping to the fourth spot, Jrue will be a nice consolation. As much as Id love to still see him at UCLA i think Anderson is very capable of running the point.

Bgirl...just bad sentence structure on my part. I didn't mean to imply Ty or BJ were not pg's, but that Jrue is a very compelling PG considering his native tools.

Imo, a successful Jrue at pg(cuz the nba might have a tall, long, smart, cool, defensive pg here) has greater value than most other players at their respective positions.

May I add that the Jrue I saw in the VCU game, when he played pg for several minutes, was alert - quick - fast - positive - and played with an suredness of one born to play pg and not sg. There is no doubt in my mind the scouts are seeing a different player than we saw.
