Not for Gavin Smith
Former UCLA basketball player Gavin Smith - who played for UCLA from 1974-76 - is a fan of Tim Floyd. That's because his son, Calabasas' Evan Smith, signed a scholarship to play for USC. Gavin said he won't be wearing any Trojans gear, though because his wife will take care of that for him. Gavin Smith said it took a while, but he got used to the idea of his son playing for USC.
``They fell in love with my son,'' Gavin Smith said. ``They've been recruiting him since the 10th grade.''

NOT SO FAST MY FRIENDS...
Don't be surprised if Evan Smith doesn't play for USC due to grades issues.
what a trader!that's the problem with these bruins no loyalty!I hate SC they make me sick to my stomach and trust me NONE of my offspring will ever wear that ugly ronald mcdonald gear!f fight on its FIGHT FIGHT FGHT!
As a senior, Gavin transferred to Hawaii to get more PT. Though he professes love for the Bruins, PT seems to be more of a priority to him. Best of luck to his son in that endeavor.
Decaf, bro, decaf...
Bruinbeatch's usc "education" is readily apparent.
Bruinbeatch,
No Div 1 schools other than SC offered scholarship to Evan Smith and you wanted this kid to still be loyal? Do you know what would happened if we offered to Evan Smith instead of Tyler Honeycutt?
Evan Smith will get a GREAT EDUCATION at USC. No doubt about it. As Dohn has said many times before, Tim Floyd is a GREAT coach.
An education at usc?? hahaha good one
Looks like there are answers to the questions regarding Sidney for those who were wondering...

In all honesty, I am very happy that both Coach Tim Floyd and USC can hold their head up high in honor when it comes to recruiting. USC and Coach Tim Floyd absolutely did the right thing in pulling the scholarship offer to Rednardo Sidneys, Jr.
UCLA was smart enough to not even offer him. He always wanted to be a bruin.
"In all honesty," it is very apparent that UCLA is smarter than USC
non story. the only good basketball player to ever come from Calabasas was a kid named Steve Ward in the mid 80's. Never even heard of this kid.
best thing about Calabasas is Kim Kardashian, if the story doesnt involve her somehow, who cares.
Gavin Smith played for John Wooden from 1974 to 1976? That would've been quit e a trick, Jill, since Coach Wooden's last game was in March 1975.
I'm sorry my pusc education is showing. In all honesty, I didn't even get into second choice. I'm ashamed, this is why I have to state I'm a lawyer. I'm happy my pretend school did the right thing with O.J. Mayo. Coach Floyd is a genius.
Your attention please: all $C legal advisers please report to the players and former players legal defense meeting...
us ut true gavin smith bailed out after not making the grade on the court or in the classroom
I don't know where all the bad info comes from. I guess there are people who love to hate. Evan Smith did not have grade issues keeping him from signing with USC- He hadn't taken an SAT or ACT yet and that is why he could not sign in November. Gavin Smith played for UCLA 1974-76 and was on the 1975 NCAA Championship Team. Coach Wooden recruited him and was his coach 74-75. Evan received hundreds of letters of interest from ALL PAC-10 schools as well as other well known Division I schools. Pershaps you should review the list of 2009 High School All American Nominees, CIF-SS Division IIIA First Team, Ventura County First Team and All Marmonte First Team. There should be recovery programs for those who could not play beyond Varsity Basketball (or make the team at all)let alone be pursued for Division I Basketball. Good for Evan-Good for USC. Peace~Love and Tolerance coming your way....
he's a trader sc sucks i wouldn't be surprised if there is some money going around just like with oj mayo but hey who knows with those spoiled people at sc BRUIN FOR LIFE its not fight on it FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT get it right
to the comment above me:
please spellcheck, it's "traitor" not "trader"
i'm glad you aren't supporting USC with that level of intelligence
some students may be spoiled at SC, but at least they can spell 5th grade words correctly
