UCLA loses title because of sanctions
UCLA's men's tennis team was stripped of 2008 Pac-10 title for using an ineligible player, and USC was awarded the title.
Here is the release from the Pac-10:
PAC-10 PENALIZES UCLA FOR MEN'S TENNIS VIOLATION, USC DECLARED 2008 TEAM CHAMPION
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--The UCLA men's tennis program has been penalized by the Pacific-10 Conference for allowing a student-athlete to compete while ineligible during the 2008 season. The Conference determined that UCLA would be required to forfeit all singles and doubles matches in which the ineligible student-athlete participated during the 2008 season.
Based on UCLA's team results after the ineligible student-athlete's matches were forfeited, the results of two Pac-10 matches were subsequently reversed - UCLA-USC on April 12, 2008; UCLA-Arizona State on April 18, 2008.
By adjusting the final team standings to include a victory awarded to each USC and Arizona State, USC has been declared the 2008 Pac-10 men's tennis champion. (corrected 2008 final Pac-10 men's tennis standings listed below).
The violation was self-reported by the institution.

Boy, do sanctions drop quick on UCLA but takes an eternity over at USC. That's okay, UCLA should be stripped b/c it was a violation. SC should be treated the same way.

Trust me, for someone on the inside with this, it is not as it seems; UCLA did ZERO wrong and it is USC who purposely reported this to cause this to happen.
Proud b/c I made it to UCLA undergrad on my merits and that's what I want UCLA to stand for. I didn't get admitted to Anderson b/c my lack of merits. Now I'm attending Marshall b/c of my checkbook (not that it's a terrible program). Two institutions that operate differently. I'm prouder of the latter.
