Answers, part IV

Here is the fourth set:

With the USC vs UCLA game being aired on FSN how much do you think that will hurt UCLA’s recruiting if at all?
None. Maybe it will help the Bruins if they get smoked (as is the custom lately at the Coliseum), not as many people will see it.

Are collegiate athletes tested for illegal drugs? I don’t recall ever hearing about a player getting busted for steroids.
Yes, they are. But part of the reason you may not hear about it is most schools do not suspend a player until the third or fourth positive drug test.

Last year, Rahim Moore played at around 178 pounds. It would seem a high-level Pac Ten safety (and NFL prospect) would need to be at least 200 pounds (maybe 210 with his height?). Has he added weight? Your thoughts?
He is getting bigger, and yes, he was a bit small last season. But that is part of being a true freshman, and one of the reasons I think coaches should always try to red-shirt freshman. However, Moore had to play last season, and I thought he did well considering all the circumstances.

Do you think any other defense fields 11 starters that are as good or better than UCLA’s? If so, which teams?
I’m going to say yes, a lot of teams will field 11 starters better than UCLA’s 11 starters. However, I do not feel like looking at 120 teams and breaking down every one to substantiate my belief. That said, I bet there are at least 25 to 30 teams with a better starting 11.

Any idea what Lorenzo Mata-Real is up to these days?
I do not, but I will check. Last I heard he was playing in Mexico.

Any word on which bball players will be in which summer leagues or teams? I know that Gordon is going to do something. What about Lee, Bobo, and the other youngsters?
I have no idea about what is going on with summer leagues. Gordon is trying out for the U-19 national team.

Even if found innocent, will E.J. Woods ever suit up as a Bruin again?
If he is guilty or has a plea deal, I think he suits up for UCLA again. All the charges are misdemeanors.

Since there has been debate over which UCLA def players would start at USC and vice versa…what’s your opinion regarding which UCLA players could start for USC?
I find that debate silly, bordering on idiotic. But I bet I could count on one or two fingers the number of UCLA players who could start for USC.
