Not that I have heard. Last I heard he was cut by the Redskins.
The Macon Telegraph reports that UCLA declined an invitation to the Chick-Fil-A kickoff game in Atlanta against Georgia Tech next year. Is that true? Why decline that game?
Yup. I reported that in April. It was because UCLA didn't want to go play a home game for Georgia Tech against an option offense that utilizes cut blocks, which often results in ankle injuries to defensive linemen.
how many silent verbals are there and do you know when those verbals will become public?
I know of one and I have no idea when it will become public.
Have you heard anything about Colorado players Josh Smith and former top running back exploring UCLA as transfer options?
UCLA doesn't have the scholarship space to accommodate transfers right now, but that could change. If something materializes, I will let everyone know.
have all of the incoming football recruits made it on to campus yet? Are any taking summer school classes?
No, none have made it on campus. Summer school doesn't start until Monday, and they move in Sunday.
Is coach's son Jerry good enough for a major D1 scholarship from what you've seen and or heard and are there rules or exceptions to rules when it comes to recruiting your own son?
I believe so. From watching him throw the ball on campus, he has a very good arm, and from talking to folks, he understands the position well.
Is anyone coming on an unofficial trip soon and is anyone other than Jordan James scheduled for an official visit?
There will be a number of unofficial visits. It almost happens daily, not to mention UCLA is running a camp beginning Sunday, so they will have a bunch of kids on campus. As far as official visits, I'm not sure of any others scheduled.
Please tell me the coaching staff was not completely depending on Warner signing, without a back up plan. Is there one? Any position changes looming?
The staff was relying heavily on Warner coming aboard. Yes, there are always contingency plans, and UCLA will proceed like it did in the spring, with Brian Price being flanked by Jerzy Siewierski and Jess Ward. David Carter will also get some reps, I would suspect, but it will cause some scrambling by the staff.

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
Official visits can't occur until the first day of recruit's senior year, so there won't be any for a couple of months.
...and "Punter" Perez was cut by the Patriots.
Hopefully he'll find a place.
josh smith wants to be a rapper...... Stop laughing people, i'm serious!!!! He's looking to go to a school with a music program. They say its down to ASU and usc. My guess would be ASU.
Brigham Harwell did not sign with the Buffalo Bills yet he went to a mini camp to show his stuff. They will make there decision sometime this week. Hopefully he will sign with them. Rumors say he was liked very much and they are looking at him strongly.
