Answers, Part X

Thanks for the questions this week. I will have updates this weekend about UCLA's one-day camp, and if the Bruins secure any commitments.
Now, onto the last few answers for this week:

Is the sdsu game going to be televised on versus or some other low key channel?
I believe it will be on either Fox Sports West or Prime Ticket. Versus is a Mountain West channel, and since the game is at the Rose Bowl, UCLA owns the television rights.

Do you expect the Bosworth brothers to make a big impact on D this year?
They better, or UCLA's defense is going to be in for a long season. Korey is the leading returning sack guy, and needs to pressure guys off the corner. Kyle is a smart, tough-nosed, get-to-the-ball linebacker, and that unit needs to be the strength of the defense.

Who is the X-factor(s) for the football team next year, meaning who will have to step up their game to win position battles?
There are too many to name. Take about four offensive linemen, the quarterback, a running back, Morrell Presley, a young receiver, ect. None are proven. This team has young talent, but it still has a lot of issues, particularly with experience and depth.

Do you think Rick Neuheisel is doing a good job so far as head coach? How would you rate him thus far on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being excellent).
I wouldn't rate him yet. I think he's done a great job of getting out in the community, being visible, recruiting and upbeat. He inherited a mess, a team with markedly less talent than when Karl Dorrell replaced Bob Toledo. So far, Neuheisel has done great work in recruiting, but let's see if that translates to wins. I think it is unfair to assign a ranking for his time because it is too early. Rebuilding jobs take years, so check back on this question after the 2010 season.

About Inside UCLA

This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.
