Well you certainly look guilty coach.

Requirement one from the NCAA was to fire Timmeh or secure his resignation. It will be interesting to see what else is "required" of SC in the coming months.

Poor Lil Romeo.

Bye-bye Timmy! Is football next to fall? Looks like the NCAA is coming after you Troy. Fight on!

suspicious, this is.

great fear in Galen Center i sense.

tell the truth now, Floyd Sidious must.

or escape, Sith Lord Garrett may.

meditate on this i will.

SC fans are probably still fired up over these 'allegations' and proclaiming Tim's innocence. But when has SC ever not claim innocence? Tim, however, hasn't said a peep. For what appeared to be a smart guy, he sure did an obviously dumb thing. Even petty criminals are more clever about their shady dealings.

In keeping with the NEW spirit on NOT bashing USC on Dohn's blog, let me say . . .

I take absolutely no glee in USC losing its head basketball coach. I KNOW it had nothing to do with the pending NCAA violations. I completely beleive Mr. Floyd when he says that he has lost the enthusiam to coach at USC. I have NO REASON to beleive it has anything to do with those scurrilous unfounded allegations that he gave $1,000 to the runner for Mayo's agent. NO ONE ON THIS BLOG should even reference that incident in the same breathe.

And no one should surmise that this part of the NCAA's sanctions. Nor should one surmise that USC is making a preemptive strike to soften the NCAA's sanctions by showing it has policed its own.

This is a sad day for LA. We all support USC and admire them for the honesty and integrity with which they have run their athletic programs. I actually shed a tear when I read the story. I was SO hoping that the UCLA-USC BB rivalry would soon match UNC-Duke. Now, with Mr. Floyd gone, we will have to wait for USC to rebuild with another coach.

Now excuse me while I go vomit over my last post.

UB, can you please keep your comments free of information that has nothing to do with Brians original post. Thank you.

Sorry, Anon. I tried to turn a new leaf and NOT bash USC -- and this is the thanks I get!

"Over the past four seasons, Floyd restored the USC program to prominence..."
Yeah right. What prominence? And what exactly did he restore?

I keep waiting for the Media to re-hash the sports talk radio tour Floyd did on signing day. Remember the colorful story Floyd would tell the listeners of how the darndest thing happened with Mayo. Why Timmy would never of even thought he would have a chance to even recruit a player like Mayo to come to U$C. But I'll be a son of a gun if the other O.J. didnt give Timmy a call and ask if he could please get on the payroll.. I mean a scholarship to play at $C. What a darn Cawinkydink that the other O.J. would want to come to $C when across town the mighty UCLA Bruins had landed a highly touted legitimate recruit in K.Love.
You dont exactly need to be Maxwell Smart to see Timmy's motive for that one.

What else is there to say that hasn't been said? An embarrassing day for USC, one that is probably difficult to acknowledge for their fans. Let them keep embarrassing themselves with comments about Harrick, Sam Gilbert, and Neuheisel while the rug is about the pulled out from underneath them. They can talk about football all day, but at least UCLA's program can field a full roster of players. There's no point in engaging them, so why do it when UCLA's 100+ NCAA championships elicit pride while they spend all their time looking over their shoulders and deflecting blame? Isn't that punishment enough? Well, if it's not, don't worry, because that will be coming from the NCAA, too.

Brian,

Why did you post an article about USC that doesn't involve UCLA?

Brian Dohn Author Profile Page said:

For the same reason I posted about Tony Bennett leaving Washington State and Lute Olson leave Arizona. Because UCLA plays USC twice a season.

If Floyd didn't resign then Carroll would have been forced to fire him. As it is, Carroll might have to fire Mike Garrett to placate the NCAA.

No wonder he didn't take a job recently at another college

well said, Yoda

He was the embodiment of $C. He had become everything that $C presently is. He had been taught at the knee of Garrett. Sorry to see him go.

If this isn't the ultimate admission of guilt, I don't know what is. Ding Dong the witch is dead. The witch is dead.

I thought it was really classy and professional how Dohn approached this. Simple posting that Tim Floyd had resigned. Nothing more...nothing less. Not sure if this would've happened on the other blog if roles were reversed.

Thanks Dohn.

If you don't think this post has anything to do with UCLA, anon, I feel sorry for you because your life is going to be very tough.

i was very sad to see this. ive bashed timmeh tons in the past cuz, well, just because. but the truth is that i really liked timmeh, respected his coaching skills tremendously, liked seeing his obvious passion for the game, and was happy for family that are trOJans to see them have enjoyment beyond football.

BUT, if hes found guilty of participating that closely in the OJ(mayo) thing...then thats just plain evil. its so blatantly corrupt and unethical, its like a black hole in his moral fiber. zero respect for the guy, if hes guilty. i really hope hes innocent.

p.s. yoda is hella funny LOL, luv that green thing.

Floyd once said, AZ was the standard. Last year, Lute left, leaving the program in near shambles. This year, Floyd leaves leaving the program in shambles. How right he was.

that program has just been decimated. Very embarrassing for sc. I would rather have seen Carroll go, one can ony dream I guess.

I never like TF, and not just because he was the Trojan Coach. I thought he always looked like an angry drunk on the court and didnt seem to have much class. Im sure Im biased though.

I was nervous though, that his team was being very competitive and hated the thought of them possibly being a Top 15 team next year (when it seemed they would have Hackett, Gibson, Noel Johnson, Alex Stephenson, Sidney, etc)

As it turns out, SC is going to be worse off than its been for a long long time, and UCLA is back to being the only basketball team in town.

Hopefully we make strides in football that we can be proud of and beat the Trojies in both sports.

Heres to hoping CBH, CRN, and DG are keeping our program classy and respectable.

Where are the USC apologists? Lawyer Johnne, could you give us your opinion in a few short words?

El Maton Author Profile Page said:

Floyd should have never been hired and wasnt a good coach anyways. no one is apologizing for a idiot making dumb decisions...but Bruin fans should be the last ones to cast stones at USC and basketball infractions. I'm sure everyone remembers Jim Harrick's shady azzzzzzzzzzzz

Bruce Author Profile Page said:

Not sure I qualify as an apologist, but I am a SC fan. It's pretty embarrassing for the University for what at this point looks like a tacit admission of guilt in the most basic of NCAA principles and rules. If the school and team take their lumps for it, well, so be it, it sure looks like Floyd did the wrong thing. I can only hope NCAA sanctions can somehow follow him should he ever try working again.

I think regardless of what the NCAA decides, SC will be in the bottom third of the conference for many years because of the fallout.

OMG!!! People are saying the trOJies will try to STEAL our coach =( =( =( This is BAD BAD !!! I hope they get somebody else %( %( %(

The goal may be to make a case for SC having institutional control now even if it didn't before.

Sad times for SC basketball.

If and when the NCAA imposes significant sanctions or penalties on SC basketball can the current players transfer without having to sit out a year?

Yeah pal, and UCLA reported violations Harrick had committed and CANNED him like Tuna the year after winning a Championship. We didn't allow him to resign, that's candy azz. SUC goes to the Sweet Sixteen and look how long it took have him "resign".

BruinFaithful:

i could care either way, fired or resigning BUT both were cheaters (well Floyd has only been accused so far but the writing is on the wall) is the point. so calling out USC is BS, when a ucla coach broke violations before. Just realize it goes on in most programs and stop being a HATER. i didnt see anyone posting anything about Calipari after his numerous infractions and bolting Memphis before the hammer came down...now thats "candy azz" as you put it! i could see if ucla has been completely clean but it hasnt, so get over it and let the NCAA do their job

Do we have any chance at all at his recruits? If we did, would want them? Anyone?
