Holiday to the 76ers
Former UCLA guard Jrue Holiday was selected 17th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers.
The NBA rookie salary scale guarantees Holiday makes $2.6 million in his first two years, and will earn another $1.4 million if a third-year option is picked up (as it usually is).

About Inside UCLA
This is Brian Dohn's sixth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.About this Entry

Yes DC at 21!
This is what Jrue said on the ESPN chat re: UCLA
Jon (SFC): Describe your experience at UCLA.
Jrue Holliday: It was fun. Frustrating at times, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
Jrue lost a lot of money today. Making less then a third of what Westbrook and Love made. Guess another year would have helped.
Jrue is a millionaire, making guaranteed money. Smart business move. Hope he develops into a solid pro.
WOW!!!!! What a reality check. Everybody had him going in the top 10. To go this low in such a WEAK draft, has to be very disconcerting. I would have loved for you to have stayed and seen you at PG but good luck.
Cant change it, cant spin it, the numbers dont lie.
MISTAKE!! if you look at it financially. I think he would have been a top 7/8 next year or better, but whatever he was sold on leaving. DC staying screwed his year up in a way. He compounded it by leaving now.
A year running our PG would have made him a top 5 pick (See James Harden).
Good luck to Jrue. I'm still somewhat un-sold on his ability to deal with physicality in the League, however he's a guaranteed millionaire based on his potential. Who really knows if he would have developed into a better player with another year? (I'm betting he would have, but who knows). He leaves a big hole in the roster for next year, but Howland had to figure on that when he signed him. I think Malcolm Lee will perform well next year though.
