Holmes to have surgery

| | Comments (0) |

UCLA red-shirt freshman defensive end Damien Holmes will undergo surgery Friday to move a bone chip in his right elbow, but he is expected to be ready when training camp begins Aug. 10.
Holmes, a key reserve, injured his elbow midway through spring practice. It was diagnosed as a hyperextended elbow, but he has continued to experience discomfort.
An examination concluded surgery was needed to remove the bone chip. He is expected to backup fifth-year senior Korey Bosworth at right defensive end.
