Honeycutt, Lewis and more
Here is a story I wrote for today's paper about incoming UCLA hoops player Tyler Honeycutt being out with a back injury. Also, Bob Keisser of our sister paper in Long Beach wrote a nice column about former UCLA tight end Marcedes Lewis giving back to the community.
Finally, Daily News staffer Jill Painter wrote about UCLA graduate Charlene Alfonso caddying in the U.S. Open this week.

Glad to see Marcedes doing charity work and helping out his old community.
But the writer messed up
"If the Jags utilize him more and pump up his numbers, he'll start to be noted in the same conversation as tight ends like Tony Gonzalez, Dan Witten and Antonio Gates."
Who is Dan Witten?? I heard of Jason Witten :)
Marcedes is a great guy. Period.
With regards to Bob's piece, I love the fact that Marcedes is juxtaposed with the four sc guys. I love the UCLA slant to the piece. Thanks!!
nice pieces - sure hope Honeycutt's back heals up quickly - expect he'll get some work in the swimming pool and on the bike to maintain cardiovascular conditioning but it's a shame he'll miss two months' play - Ucla will need him at SF this season.
Particularly enjoyed Jill's piece on Alfonso - very nice read! Thanks for linking it here
