More on UCLA commits

Here is the story I wrote in today's paper about UCLA's two football commitments.
Also, I spoke to Fresno Edison defensive lineman Wesley Flowers this morning, and he said he is being given the choice of whether to play defensive end or defensive tackle.
"They said it's wide open for me,'' Flowers said. "Coach (Rick) Neuheisel asked me what position I would play, and I wanted to play wherever I fit in best. As long as I'm on the defensive line, it doesn't make a difference."
Flowers said leaving California for college isn't really an option.
"I always wanted to play for a Pac-10 school,'' he said. "Grandma told me I was not leaving California. She said if I committed somewhere outside of the state, I would have to de-commit. I'm like her baby boy, so I don't think she wants me to go to far. I've been with her since I was three days old."
Flowers said he will still take official visits to other schools.
"I still want to take my trips and have that part of the fun,'' Flower said. "I'm solid with UCLA."

Sounds like a good kid. He listens to grammy. (Not being sarcastic either. I think that's awesome. Family is important.)

I also like his stated willingness to play where he is needed. We need guys like that, who are willing to put the good of the team first. I like this get.

Welcome to UCLA, Mr. Flowers.

Flowers sounds like a quality kid. Welcome to the Bruin family!

Like sex, visits should not be for fun, but should only be taken for their intended purpose. Taking visits for fun while committed leads to debauchery and sinfulness, which in turn leads to the ultimate sin of decommitting.

Was Flowers the guy that Brian mentioned as our silent commit a couple of weeks ago?

Poor Falwell. Your argument has but one flaw: if it weren't fun, then the intended purpose would not be served to the extent necessary. At any rate, not a big deal that he wants to take a few trips. It will either more firmly cement his desire to be a Bruin, or he will change his mind if something comes along that works better for him; in which case, as long as he handles the decommitting with maturity and respect, and doesn't wait until the eleventh hour, then it's not a huge deal. Ultimately, he has to do what's best for him and as long as he handles it the right way, there's nothing wrong with that. All that said, I don't think him decommitting will be an issue.

What FalwellBruin really means is it's okay for a recruit to fornicate as long as they are fornicating at UCLA.

How else would you explain Morrell Presley, Kevin Prince, Sean Westgate, Marlon Pollard, Randall Carroll, Iuta Tepa, Taniela Maka, Stan Hasiak, and Damien Thigpen. All of whom were committed to other schools before finally settling on UCLA.

Just to be clear, setting a young man on the path of righteousness and preparing him to enter the Kingdom of Westwood can never be considered sinful, especially if it undermines the efforts of the Lucifer and his ketchup and mustard clad army of demons.
