Maybe Mobley? – UPDATE

I’ve placed calls but can’t get confirmation of Willie Mobley’s transfer from Ohio State to UCLA, but according to ESPN, it’s true.

UPDATE: Sources indicate that he is expected to join the program, but school officials cannot comment until the proper paperwork has been filed.

He was not Mr. Football in Minnesota. That title belonged to Notre Dame WR Michael Floyd. Hopefully he can qualify to get in school. He could make a nice addition next year.

If this is the case, it makes the need for a top tier D tackle much less pressing this year. I mean it still could be nice but not a must

Mobley was the No. 13 DT prospect per Scout for ’08. He’s 6’3″ and 265 lbs.

He will sit out this year, his RS Freshman yr, but will be able to practice and work out with the team.

He had a shoulder injury last year so it probably hindered his development. I expect he should be able to put on 15-20 lbs this year and should be around 280-285 lbs next year and be able to contribute as a RS Sophomore. So he will have 3 yrs of eligibility.

This is a very good transfer UCLA is getting. He’s said to have a very good motor and is pretty athletic for his size.

I see him being able to play in the 2-deep at DT immediately in 2010.

Did wide receiver Josh Smith from Colorado ever enroll at UCLA as reported earlier in the summer?

Man, this is a GREAT get. This kid is a STUD. Too bad we didn’t get him 2 years ago. Things are looking great for next year. Too bad we can’t get a lot of these transfers in this year.
