Wow... that day must have some really bad match ups if this is the marquee game of the day. Anyway... I like the exposure. I still think it was quite lame last year when GameDay visited Pauly and only a small group of students was in the gym. Didn't have that same overall energy of a packed arena.

We better end our losing streak to U-dub this year! This will be a very good game.

REVENGE!!! I hope we put the mother of all beat downs on them.

The problem with gameday coming to the west coast is that they still market it to the east coast, which means a lot of people have to be willing to get up early on a Saturday morning to make a good showing. Not many college kids I know of are eager to do that.

Well, Larry, the UCLA Students have been 'lame' in basketball for years. We see them 'strolling' into their seats in dribs and drabs each game. When they camp out overnight once a year or so, it makes the 'news.'

I am a 1979 grad and was a regular "Pauley Pavilion Overnighter." EVERY HOME GAME . . . EVERY SINGLE HOME GAME. Even exhibitions against the Atheletes in Action or the early non-conference patsies. Hundreds of us gathered, huddled and slept on the hard concrete, waiting for the "Rally Committee" to come in the morning with the priority numbers. When the doors opened, we would fly down the stairs, onto the floor, and into our favorite seats on the bleachers.

Now, the students stroll their way into Pauley . . .

I bet "UB" also walked up hill in the snow both ways on his way through campus...back in his day. I can picture UB in with his suspenders on sitting in a rocking chair.

The UCLA students do a great job of rocking Pauley...its the old donor people that sit on their hands.

They used to take tickets early and let students stampede in 1 hr before tip, but now they have double-file entry and don't start checking for tickets until the gates open. The lack of a mad rush to the seats is a result of the new protocol from the ushers, and their inability to successfully scan the bar code on an ID on the first, second, or third try - not a lack of enthusiasm from the students.

Well, I never lived in the snow, so, no, I didn't walk uphill both ways. And, I don;t wear suspenders or sit in a rocking chair. In fact, I cheer louder and am more rauckus than most fans.

As for the new "protocol" - - - nice try, but that won't account for the fact that after the first wave of students (if you can call it that), I sit in Pauley and watch the students "stroll in" over the next hour. The new system doesn't account for that.

I, too, get angry at the white haired alums that sit on their hands all the time, stand up in the time outs to stretch and leave early.

Sorry to break it to you, but if call what the students do in Pauley these days "rocking the house" then all I can do is smile and shake my head. You have NEVER heard the students rock Pauley. Never.

But, you do have the Domino's Pizza delivery and the Sarah Leonard watch give-away. I'll give you that!

Hate to admit it, but got to go with UB on this one. I only visit Pauley once a year, for the SC game, so I probably am viewing home fans at their most spiteful, and hence most interesting, best. But I too have seen a tapering off over the years of primitive excitement. It may have something to do with how times have become harder, and the students have more serious matters than a silly SC-ucla game.
