Pre-scrimmage update

| | Comments (8) |

Rick Neuheisel decided to move today's scrimmage from the Rose Bowl back to UCLA's practice fields simply to avoid poor air-quality and heat.
At least the air is clean. Somewhat clean.
It is still hot and muggy, the dry desert heat of the last two days replaced by humidity. It should be a good test for the Bruins, are dressed in full game gear.

I will bring updates after the scrimmage, and if you want to pose a few questions for me to ask specific players, I'll try to do my best.

Thanks
JG

Please ask Hasiak and Sua-Filo how they feel about the responsibility of protecting the QB's blind side as freshman.

Is there a consensus that Maiava is the leader of the O-line? If not Maiava, then Baca?

Jon is it true that Baca is now a back up??

Pac-10's No. 2 team to go to Alamo Bowl
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4429272

The Alamo Bowl is negotiating with the Big 12 to provide the other side of the matchup and is expected to have a deal in place with the conference in the next few weeks. The Alamo Bowl currently matches the No. 4/No. 5 team from the Big Ten against the No. 4/No. 5 team from the Big 12.

Is this a step up from the Holiday Bowl for the Pac 10? At least it is further east I guess. Will the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th place Big 12 team join us in San Antionio? Do we want to play Oklahoma or Texas in San Antonio?

Its not like the Holiday bowl has been great for us over the last few years anyway.

I mean Dohn was good, but Jon is in a class of his own. Lets all be thankful we acquired Gold before the regular season. Otherwise I would have felt a little nervous for SDSU. Jon, have you considered changing your first name to "Blue"? Just a thought. Thanks bro

Jon,
Can you give your assessment for how players are doing? It's great to hear from the players and coaches, but they always sugarcoat it etc. How do they look? Who do you think is winning the second safety competition? Who looks like the third best receiver out there? Who is struggling. Some details/commentary please!!!!! I love the interviews, but I'm a demanding bruin fan! I want some reactions from you too!

Jon,

Not sure if you saw my question a couple posts back. Can you ask coach Chow about reports he'll be on the sidelines this season rather than in the pressbox? What does this mean? What does he expect to accomplish this way? Has he ever done it that way before or will this be his first time? Stuff like that............thanks and keep up the great work!
