Anthony Barr out for season

| | Comments (8) |

I spoke to Jeff Kearin, Loyola's coach, and he confirmed that Anthony Barr was lost for the year. Barr broke his ankle on Friday night and had surgery Sunday.
Where his recruitment goes from here is anyone's guess.

According to some other paper in town, nothing has changed in recruiting.

My guess is that the injury changes nothing, the team to beat for Barr is still Notre Dame.

Hope Barr recovers in fine form, enjoys his senior year at Loyola, and last...but not least, chooses to become a Bruin!

Terrible to hear. Barr remains a HUGE talent and a great kid from all accounts. I hope surgery went well and Barr continues dominating wherever he goes (unless its SC of course - where I would wish him good health but not success on the ball field =) ))

That other paper is also reporting that Willie Mobley lacked the credits to enroll at UCLA this quarter and will attend OCC but he still plans on attending UCLA after that.

Jon, if true about Mobley, these are the bits of info most readers are interested in knowing. We'd rather not have to look at The Times for any UCLA related info. Thanks.

Does that mean that Mobley is lost for next year or can he make up the required credits from now to next fall (INCLUDING THE SUMMER)?

Too bad, but every setback has a silver lining. This kid is a Monster and and incredible and very intelligent talent. Hopefully the injury will give him time to focus on recruiting. Hopefully it will also help him realize that life is fleeting and family is important and thereby decide to stay close to home and go to UCLA with Jerry Neuheisel. GO BRUINS!!!!
