Checkin in

Hey all,

No practice today, and no weekly press conference, so I'm going to try to get a couple of rrecruits on the line if I can.

In the meantime, I'll be posting some quotes from Rick Neuheisel's conference call on Sunday, a couple polls and whatever else I can find.

Enjoy the ride.

John, great work with the blog. Can you get detailed updates on the status of Kevin Prince, Aaron Hester and Reggie Stokes injuries? Especially expected game they will return.

Thanks!

Hey NA,

Kevin Prince is still wired shut, and will be shut down for probably another three weeks. Aaron Hester is still in a walking boot and will probably be OK for Oregon or Cal. Stokes, I'm not sure about, but I'll find out tomorrow.

Thanks
JG

The reality is, TruBruin, that the running game has made marked improvements, the offensive line has allowed five sacks after 35 last season and Kevin Craft, while inaccurate at times, got the job done.

Also, UCLA worked on a lot of short fields, which automatically hurts total offense.

I don't think they're perfect, but I think a B was warranted.
Thanks
JG

Jon,
You are doing a great job with the blog but the grades you gave us are totally out of line. Is the grading system based on a curve using last seasons numbers? Nationally we are 105th in YPG 86th in passing and 96th in 3rd down conversions. The offense is getting better but far from where it needs to be. If we cant sustain more drives offensively the defense is going to tire out as the season progresses. Iam all for the positive stuff but I would like to see something a bit more objective about the reality of where the offense is.

Jon,
Thanks for your reply. You answered my question, your grades are based on a curve using last season as the basis. The reality is that while the offense is better than last season (could hardly get worse) It is still a far below average unit on a whole. Based on this season and this season alone we are still a below average offensive unit.
