Howland has appendectomy surgery
UCLA just released this - Ben Howland had appendectomy surgery yesterday. Here it is:

UCLA head men's basketball coach Ben Howland is resting comfortably after having a standard appendectomy yesterday. The procedure was performed at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center by Dr. Joe Hines. Howland expects to return to work on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009.
"One of the very best things about being a coach or student-athlete at UCLA is if you need medical attention, you won't find any better place in the country than at the incomparable UCLA Medical Center," Howland said. "The medical staff and community at UCLA are simply the best and I'm so grateful to all of them for their professionalism and commitment to excellence."
I bet he refused anesthesia and made them do it while he was watching film

Frankly, I'm surprised he took an offensive approach to this problem...
Hate to be a nitpicker, but this happens way too frequently know with newspapers and the reporting of the "news". A person cannot have his or her "appendectomy" removed because a person does NOT have an appendectomy in their body. Rather, an appendectomy refers to the surgical procedure to remove a person's appendix when the patient is suffering from acute appendicitis. Peace Out and Bring back the EDITORS.
You might think about editing this Jill. He didn't have surgery to remove his "appendectomy". An appendectomy is the surgery he had to remove his appendix!

2. Jill, could you please ignore the bufoons on the appendectomy issue. We all understand what procedure Coach Howland underwent. It only proves that the blog trolls and typo n@z!s spend too much time on inconsequential matter.

Agreed on both points, UB. If we complain too much about typos, we will get a more comprehensive editing process, resulting in less information less frequently. Be careful what you wish for. This is a blog, not the newspaper. Go Bruins.

I heard that Kevin Prince also injured his appendectomy on that hit at the goal line during the Tennessee game.
Yes, anon 445 --- and haven't we all had a typo or two in OUR blogs? I, for one, admit that I am not a typist. My posts are to get out content. While I endeavor to be as careful as possible, I rarely proof read my posts -- just click submit. As a result, errrors nacharully accur.
Howland made the doctor get down in a stance while performing the surgery.
