Former UCLA tight end Tim Wrightman is Saturday's honorary captain.

Here's more on Wrightman from UCLA:
Each week, a Bruin football alumnus serves as the team's honorary captain. He attends the Friday walkthrough and then speaks to the team. He stays with the team on Friday night and participates in the pre-game coin flip with the team captains.

The honorary captain for the 2009 season-opener is Tim Wrightman, a tight end on the 1978-81 teams. Wrightman was named a consensus All-American following the 1981 season and finished his career as the No. 2 receiver in UCLA history with 73 catches. He was also selected to the 1981 football Academic All-America squad. Wrightman was a third-round pick of the Chicago Bears and was a member of the 1986 Bears Super Bowl team. Tim was inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003.

Nice touch.

Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, SC and other schools have always kept their football past tied to the present, and it's never too late to get started.

Tim was a Sophomore when I was a senior at UCLA. I remember him well. Not only could he catch the ball, but he was a helluva blocker! Just ask Freeman McNeil!

You are that OLD?

Yep, I am every bit that "OLD"

VB is in his 20s, so unless he was born when I was 15 or 20 myself, yes, I would be that "OLD"

Isn't it interesting how 20ish males like to put down males for being over 40.

Like I always say, most people are cute enough up to 40, and then the second half of their lives they are not so cute.

Prepare yourselves for the second half of your lives.

The best "catch" Wrightman ever had, not in the UCLA record books was having Julie Hayek, former Miss USA, runner up Miss Universe as a girlfriend. After dating for two years they broke up and he lost her to a basketball star just arrived to LA, Mitch Kupchak.

are you implying that UB is VB's dad?
