Why was the UCLA punt that seemed to have touched a Tennessee player, who was then tackled in the end zone, not counted as a safety? The ESPN announcer seemed to start to go there with his comment, but then stopped.

Why were the Bruins not credited with a safety after they tackled the Tennessee punt returner in the end zone after he appeared to have touched the ball around the 10yd line? The ESPN announcer seemed to start to talk about it and then stopped.

rocky top is their big song. seems like it is a big tradition, as old as their football team, right? that would be .. no! wrong!! the song wasn't even written until 1967 - their band didn't even play it 'til 1972! with the amount of hype that thing gets, you would think it was more than some attempted commercial vehicle about a fictional spot in tennessee hills. and that is would at least be part of the university for 50 yrs. bogus tradition.

I replayed that punt a couple of times. It was hard to see if he touched it, but it looked to me like he didn't actually touch it before it went into the endzone. But it was really hard to see on the angle provided by ESPN.

Scout.com is reporting Prince has a broken jaw and will be out 3-4 weeks. Jon, any confirmation on this?

i believe you have to have possession of the ball, not just touch it, for it to be a safety.

The polls seems to have Tennessee with a higher ranking than UCLA. Am I reading it wrong?

Let me get this straight. Notre Dame wins one game against inferior competition and moves into the 18th spot last week. UCLA wins on the road against a mighty SEC team, albeit in a down year and only gets moved up to 30th place. No wonder the polls are to often considered suspect.
