How come 10th place is not an option
I believe that was clearly the toughest part of the schedule. The talent level of the next few teams diminishes. It will require the team winning on the road. Which they have done before. Clearly this team is having issues being consistent. From what I know, that really does come from youth and inexperience. The team needs to and will mature. Not only physically but mentally. A strong finish will get this team a good lower level bowl game. Win that and we ride with some momentum going into next year.
Do not give up on Coach RN or the team. This is EXACTLY what growing pains is all about.
Next season, 0-3 start
I'm so tired of hearing about how young we are! The defense is a veteran group - no excuses!!!!
come on...we will beat K State and very likely Houston. I people are going to be surprised at how kids mature from frosh-soph years and soph to juniors We will have alots of kids maturing next year, starting to become a more veteran team all around with more depth. That is how to win football games. 1 Player can win you a game here and there as Locker has shown, but it takes a team with depth to win over a full season with consistency. Like it or not, that is how SUC keeps winning, when Chris Odowd goes down, another kid steps in and gets the job done. We dont have that yet, but another couple of solid years of recruiting should change that. If it doesn't...then we take off Coach RN's head...until then, we stick with him and give him a chance to build something.
The next win will only be at Wazzu and that's all for this season. The last 3 weeks the defense increasingly gave up more rushing yardage after holding up an average of 74 ypg the first 3 games. On defense the stats don't show the team is progressing. At least with the previous coaching staff, the fans expect mediocre products on the field and not so much hype with this so-called the best coaching staff in the nation.
Wins at OSU and at WAZZU
Losses at AZ, vs ASU and at USC
Tossup at home vs WASH
5-7 or 6-6
bigger question is how does RN hang on to the recruits he's got in the bag right now? See ya, Tony Jefferson...
Two years...it's only been two years...I'd like to see any of these blogchair quarterbacks turn a team around in two years themselves. Quit whining about "tired of them saying they're a young team" and "tired of them saying wait until next year" ...etc...if you can't take it, go watch the trojans for a few years until the new foundation is laid, then come back as the fair weather fans you are.
hiya teDDies!!!
u cant stop Cal!!! 289 yards rushing so???
so ur big bro teach u a lesson!!!
don’t cry teDDies ur still > than trOJies!!!
but Cal is always better than ucla always

i would say RN has till 2011 to have a 9-10 win season. after the recruiting and 4 years of his own staff and kids...it should equal 9-10 wins and a BCS or Rose Bowl..or we are just spinning our wheels.
Personally, I am optimistic that the team will be 2 wins at least better next season. So our 5-6 wins this year turns into 7-8 next season..then 9-10 the next year...hopefully the pipeline is full of good players, depth and every understands the system well. we will have plenty of seniors all over the field at that time. QB, RB, OL..lots of seniors and hopefully lots of solid juniors right behind them.
"The last 3 weeks the defense increasingly gave up more rushing yardage"
do you remember who those backs were? lol. we all knew before the season started that we had this 3 game stretch with 3 VERY GOOD running teams.
pay attention to more than just 1 game brother... some of the people here are like the people in the stands that scream out what they wish the fate would be for CRN and CNC based solely on the outcome of the last play.
Too late Rick, you've already lost most of the fanbase because you undermine us with terrible decisions. I don't see anything better than 4 wins this season.
Remain hopeful. We might get picked up to go bowling, even at 6-6 if we can...
Oh, who am I kidding? We NEED to be 7-5 to make a bowl game.
Cal walked all over ucla like a cheap rug!!! I loved being on the team bus for the long ride. My boys came for me and played real good!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ super bestie!!!

"do you remember who those backs were? lol. we all knew before the season started that we had this 3 game stretch with 3 VERY GOOD running teams."
The first 3 games the Defense was able to hold off one of the best SEC rushers (Montario Hardesty) and 2nd leading rusher in the Big 12 (Daniel Thomas). At least they were able to tackle these TBs and didn't let them to run by into the secondary. The last 2 weeks against Oregon and California, the Defense let 3 big plays from inside the 5 yard lines.
Another thought, whenever Gavin Ketchum on the field inside the red zone, it's given it will be a running play. Pretty soon opponent's DC will stack 8 men on the box.
I've said it previously, but anyone who thinks that the team next year will be better than .500 is delusional.
Tough schedule on the road both non-conf and especially in the PAC.
One more win this year (4-8), maybe 5-7, 6-6 next year, thanks Rick and Norm "The Genius" Chow.
By the way, Reggie Carter and the D, Toby Gerhart, LaMichael James, and now the Two Cal RBs are STILL waiting for someone to meet them on the other side of the line. Gutless.
But, Reggie Carter will still have that $uc game to lean on in later years.
Edgerrin James or Ron Dayne anyone?
Nick Grigsby and Company are licking their chops, it'll be a BLOODBATH in Tucson.
Oh yeah, "just wait until 2012!"
Pathetic.
Did anyone see Milton Knox and his moves on his one carry last week? Any reason why Maurice Jones-Drew in training isn't playing more like Thigpen.
Oh yes, must be like Courtney Viney and in the Doghouse for whatever they did earlier in the season.
UCLA has playmakers, too bad they are often on the sideline.
