Quotables: Kevin Prince

| | Comments (19) |

On the defense:
"I feel like with that kind of defensive effort, we deserved to win. They get those 14 points because of mistakes I made. The defense did a great job. If I started throwing better, even at the end of the game, we're still in the ballgame."

On the team's resolve:
"We discussed this before as a team, the way the season went last year, when you're backed up into a corner, there's only two things you can do: you can go and hide or you can come out swinging. This is a team that's going to come out swinging. We're going to find a way to put this thing back together."

On making big plays:
"You don't really focus on making big plays. You take what they give you, and eventually big plays happen. What you saw today was our inability to make just regular plays. I take responsibility for that. It was my inability to get the ball to the right people. Oregon didn't have to worry about us going downfield, I couldn't get a first down. Those things will happen once we get back on track, once I start playing well. Those things will happen. We'll make the short players, and the big ones will come."

Here's a Quotable:

Game, Set, Season Over.

We had an Oregon team without its starting QB, Safety, down to a third string CB, playing its first road game in weeks, its FIRST game on grass, and we couldn't close the deal. In fact, we handed it to them. Pathetic.

The team will now pack it in and will be extremely lucky to win 5 games.

Wait until next year?

The entire defense is pretty much gone (Price will likely leave), almost all difficult games are on the road (we almost always lose at Oregon, Cal and ASU), and I don't see these coaches modifying their Dorreillan play calling.

GET RID OF CHOW!

Wait until 2011?

Pathetic.

Let me guess - you just started watching Dodgers, right?

And you couldn't name more than 5 Lakers before 1999, right?

I don't think anybody is happy with the less than stellar play today, but save the drama. This team is far from done, and unlike those teams under KD, they are fighting until the last down.

If the team starts winning again, I'm sure you'll be one of the first to come running back...

ifififififififififififififififififififififififififififif.UCLA lives in the land of mediocre. Some dream team we have for a staff. They call two consecutive QB sneaks and we can't even punch it in for a TD. That pretty much sums it up.

There is no imagination on offense except for a few token plays here or there.

The future recruits are being sold a bill of goods that won't amount to anything. They would be better off playing at some other school.

Dude, stop posing as a Bruin. If you are a Bruin... with fans like you who needs toejams? You'd probably a Kal fan. This is football, our team is young. Yes we are dissappointed cuz we had a good chance after the first half and then gave the game away. We have to man up and show up stronger and more focused next week.

You guys who are criticizinng the team and coaching staff are Kal or Toejams posing as Bruin fans. nice try ... If you really are Bruins, we don't need fans like you. Everyone needs to chill. A loss is a loss. Yes, it sucks. We need to man up and get it together for next Sat.

Offense and Special Teams lost this game and gave the Ducks new life. We should just kick it out of the end zone everytime. The play call and Prince's decision to throw it on that WELL covered slant was retarded. An automatic pick six. When you have mimimal offensive production, you can't make those mistakes.

Not being able to score from within the 1 on two consecutive plays is pathetic. When are we going to learn that teams are going to load the box and blitz? We need to try running outside the tackles.

We should play Brehaut the rest of the season. However, it was obvious that Oregon was going to blitz on him. Why didn't we do anything to combat the blitzes? Bad, Bad, Bad, decisions all around.

it's was a pain watching the game, you see the strong side blitz coming with 3 guys and no one picked it out and our QB just got taken out... also 0 points from 2 redzone attempts... pathetic... i mean i love our team and our guys... but seriously, at least lose with style... like how Washington is playing... if our offense can be with more flair like theirs and continue this adequate defense... a bowl game shouldn't even be a question!

CalGirl your schtick is getting old. Actually you are probably a 40 year old fat guy who is posing who is desperate for attention. Put the Cheetos down and step away from the keyboard.

Two thoughts:

1) A crushing defeat. I hope that the play-calling is due to our players' inexperience, and not the coaches' lack of imagination.

At least Neu went for it on fourth.

2) That's not "peace" president, that's "appeasing" president.

The kind of "peace" the Europeans are looking for is the kind that comes when America is bankrupt and disarmed, only it won't be what they expect.

Shari'a is no gentle master.

Get a grip b fans. You ran into a real good Defense Saturday. Those boys are playing with alot of heart coupled with deadly speed in the front seven giving our so called third string corners to zone and make plays. You have a rookie QB, be patient with slick, If your paying attention hes recruiting out his back side and it will pay off soon. i love my Ducks, we are getting it done with less. Watch us kick your rivals ''''' it two weeks.

Maybe YOU should get a grip Duck fan, although your critique of ucla is possibly right-on. But UofO looked pathetic against Boise State, and the game yesterday didn't prove much for the Ducks' offense, although Oregon certainly missed its first string QB.

SC plays defense too and it has a couple more games to tune up its offense before the offensive Autzen fans can get their dandruff up.

And I've been in most of the college venues around the country and Autzen had the most rude people I have ever encountered. That view was seconded by Oregon State fans when I visited there. What's up with that?

Frustrating game to watch, we basically gave this game away but we still fought to the end. Prince and Brehaut really need to read what the defense is giving them. Brehaut should have seen that the LB's were coming on 4th down. He should of checked out of the play or called a hot route for Paulsen because he was wide open in the endzone.

i guess the experts who all said we would lose the rest of our home games were right? maybe 4-8 is where were at right now?

Let's hope CRN can get things turned around - I still think he can!!!

I think people are overreacting about our loss to Oregon. Sure I'm dissapointed by it. I thought we had a legitimate chance of upsetting a team not at full strength. However, we weren't full stregth either. And Oregon looks like the top team in the pac 10 right now. Our season is far from over!!!

Go Bruins!!!
