UCLA-Oregon State on delayed TV

| | Comments (11) |

UCLA's Oct. 31 football game at Oregon State will be televised on a delay basis, beginning at 3:30 pm, on Prime Ticket is Los Angeles and FS Northwest in OSU's home area. The game kicks off at 1:00 pm.

The game could not be televised live because the Pac-10 Conference's contract with ABC gives an ABC telecast of a Pac-10 contest exclusivity in the 12:30-3:30 window.

This is the oddest thing I've ever heard. Why don't the boneheads at Oregon State start the game at 3:30? I would imagine that the ratings would be lower and thus the revenue for a decreased because of a delayed telecast.

Don't they have an Economics professor at OSU?

Idiots!

wouldnt this be a huge loss of revenue for oregon state? what is this thinking behind this? do they feel they have a greater chance of winning by playing two hours earlier?

The Bruin game is OSU's Homecoming game so I believe that they have other activities that they do not want to move.

THANK GOD! Now I just have to avoid the sports ticker for 2.5 hours so they don't spoil the score before I get to watch it. pffffffffffff.....

OK, so who is the MORON at the pac 10 that negotiated that contract with ABC? Let's see, how did that negotiation go:
ABC: "We want an exclusive between 12:30 and 3:30."
P10: "But what if you don;t pick up a P10 game?"
ABC: "We still want it."
P10: "OK!"

How about telling ABC to shove their exclusive window, IF THEY DECIDE TO PASS ON A P10 GAME DURING THAT WINDOW? ABC (Anything But Content) Their braodcasts are HORRIBLE. Their TV timeouts are INTOLERABLE while you at the game live, and they cut off the start of UCLA's game last week.

Hey, P10, how about telling ABC, if you've got an exclusive window, YOU MUST BROADCAST THE ENTIRE GAME AND NO PRE-EMPT THE BEGINNING.

P10 Commish! Are you listening? ABC has poked the P10 in the eye and you are letting them do it! I hope you have STONES when the contract is up for review!

At least I'll get to see the game, I guess. Still, ABC exclusivity is garbage. If ABC wants exclusivity for a time slot, the PAC-10 needs to make sure that the PAC-10 game ABC chooses is broadcast NATIONALLY and not just West Coast. Games on CBS and ESPN are national, PAC-10 needs that.
Also, I can understand Oregon State wanting to celebrate their holiday, but come on, they could have moved game up to 3:30, it'll still be light out when the game finishes.
