Darrell Scott to UCLA?

| | Comments (18) |

I tried to grab Josh Smith quickly before practice to chat about his nephew, Colorado running back Darrell Scott, but to no avail. I'll do my best to get him after practice.

In the meantime, it does appear that Scott has his heart set on UCLA, according to the Denver Post - Great Scott

Scott, you remember, was the No. 2 prospect in the country in 2008, behind Ohio State's Terrelle Pryor after a star-studded career at Moorpark High and St. Bonaventure High.

Scott isn't even starting for a really bad CU team. I wonder if he wasn't overrated out of HS. If he comes here how many RB's will transfer out now? RB is one position we actually have good depth.

Yeah, Mobley wanted to transfer here too. I'll believe Scott gets in when I see it.

Not that it means anything, but this guy absolutely shat on kids in high school

Don't be so negative. His cousin J-Fly got in fine, so why not?

This is a great development. We will continue to bring in more talent and develope and get better.

Sounds eerily similar to the Ben Olsen saga. And we all know how well that turned out for UCLA.

The negativity here is ridiculous.

Talking about transfer that didn't make it, how is Mitch Mustain doing these days?

I don't like him.

Sounds more like Kai Maiava.

wasn't he the guy who had the Texas coaches over when CRN was visiting?

Great, go for it. I don't care how much talent slick Rick brings in. If he doesn't win games, its meaningless

Anyone know why he went to St. Bonaventure after a great season at Moorpark? Seems like he's a flip-flopper. I would rather we get James or/and Barr than him. How about Seatrunk? Didn't hear anything about his recruiting trip. IMHO.

Wasn't UCLA on his final list? I remember CRN and CNC went up to Ventura to court him when they were first hired.

Hey Lavsmousse, read the story Jon linked to. Scott has been injured since early in the season and had to have his knee scoped.

Last time I posted was when Josh Smith said he was interested in UCLA. I had a feeling his cousin was gonna look at UCLA when the Smith deal went thru.

I said Josh Smith was SPEC-TAC-U-LAR in his limited time at CU. He makes TA look like a high schooler when it comes to returning kicks. A huge get at both WR and special teams.

I don't think that Scott is a big get whatsoever. He hasn't done anything at CU in his two years, and seems like a bigger project than he may be worth. With all the RB's currently, and the potential gets coming in this recruiting class, I would pass. But, thats just me...

Scott wasn't starting before the injury nor did he ever start his freshman year.

You are completely right. The negativity here is almost laughable. The problem is, most of the people who come on here are like the SUC Bandwagon fans and know NOTHING about FB. I wish all these Anon trolls wouldnt be such sissys and post with a screen name, so that when we turn it around and they decide to jump back on the Bandwagon, I can call them on it. I wish Jon would force all who want to post to get an account and sign in.

Examples of asinine comments.

Locoweed:

We all know you are a SUC troll, but WTF does Ben Olson have to do with Darrell Scott? Two completely different players, positions, and circumstances. GOOD ONE!!!!

Mike Chat:

Kai Maiava is our starting Center, WTF does that have to do with Scott?

Most of the talent Rick has brought in hasn't even seen the field and/or developed. When Duhrell left, the cupboard was VERY bare. I wrote a good article a few days back detailing this fact. Even Ben Howland had the worst record in UCLA history his 1st year and it is MUCH harder to rebuild a FB program than a BB program, especially at UCLA. Howland's second year we barely made the Tourney. Let's see how CRN finishes, and next year will be his show me year.

Really, some people on here are just retarded. We happen to have the 2nd toughest schedule in the country, according to Sagarin, and we will probably be number 1 next year. You guys try and recruit the talent we have been getting at UCLA with a 4-8 record and the academic standards we have to face. Friday night, Neuheisel flew back from Arizona to watch his son play and recruit and then flew back. I don't EVER remember Duhrell doing that, especially before a road game. The guy is working his ass off to turn the program around, for less money than most Pac-10 coaches make. Give him some damn respect for god sakes.

BruinFaithful,
Dude, I completely agree with you! This is not an overnight fix. One good recruiting class isnt going to turn this around. We have a tough schedule. These are excuses, these are facts. Most people didnt pick us to be much better than 4-8 or 6-6 at best. We are on that pace.
I do think we can and will win at least 2 of the next 4 games. It's about BUILDING a program. CRN is building a foundation of talent that will be a long term fix for UCLA. That way, when one OL goes down, we got another good player to step in.
The more talent we have in here, the better. If Scott wants to come in here and compete, it will only make us better.
Armando Allen for Notre Dame was a 5 star stud and hardly plays now. Not every 5 star stud pans out, but that doesn't mean you don't go get them.
UCLA is heading in the right direction. The schedule is tough...GOOD! I will be in Texas next year rooting on the team and helping them through the tough year!
GO UCLA!

Faithful - stop being such a baby. People disagree with you over whether this is likely to work out. Get over it. And your reference to mike chat's analogy with Kai is off base. His analogy seemed to be meant as a positive statement. The fact that he followed it up with a potentially negative question doesn't change that. Some people are capable at looking at an issue from two sides.

Personally, I'm skeptical that he'll be admitted based on what I recall from that recruiting season. Last I checked, the fact that his cousin was admitted won't matter much to the people in Murphy Hall. We'll see if he's enrolled in January.

I don't think UCLA has enough Scholies to add Scott to the RB logjam.

I believe UCLA has 17 Dorrell Seniors leaving the program this year. We have 11 commitments, plus 2 gray shirts. I think that leaves us with 4 scholies left for 2010. That is unless Rick is planning another PURGING of the Dorrell Juniors who have never contributed on Saturdays. Look at the roster and you'll know who they are.
