Morning stuff
Hey guys,
First off, a couple people asked about Kevin Craft in practice yesterday. He just got more No. 2 reps than Brehaut, who coaches want to get more pocket awareness. As the season got a whole lot more interesting with a possible bowl bid, I think the Brehaut experiment is on hold.
Secondly, Jill Painter will be covering football practice tonight, so I figured we'd do a midweek chat to talk about Arizona State and Cal State Bakersfield.
Thirdly, I wrote a pretty big story about Prince and Su'a-Filo deciding (or not deciding) on embarking on a Mormon mission. Check it out here: A Higher Calling?
Thanks
JG

No, it's Olson.
It's Ben Olsen, not Olson.
Excellent article, Jon. I feel you handled these players' issues of faith very well.
Sunset
As a Bruin living in Utah, I know about this all too well, as does my third favorite team, the Utes.
I know these things are complicated, but it would make sense to play now, serve later, right? If you play, do well, make it rich, you help the church 10 fold. If you never make it pro, you can serve after you graduate, right?
Well, it's not so easy. In the culture, you are not considered a man and marry-able until you go on your mission. Young girls have it drilled in their minds that only a return missionary is good enough for them. Needless to say, it's a real tough decision. The Bruin fan and atheist in me wants them to play, but I respect their decision regardless.
Jon:
How do you get to write comments in reply to something before it even is posted? Are you magic?
Also, to anon: Check this out,

Looks like you jumped in without fact checking first.
No, it's infirmary.
Olson, Olsen, Ole-Son, Ol-sun, Owal-Son . . .
You say PoTAto, I say POtato . . .
Please, stop with all the typo n@z!s BS. Just read the substance!
Neuheisel does not "compete" with Mac Brown or Urban Meyer. He's pulled two players out of the state of Texas that UT didn't bother talking to and no stars out of the state of Florida.
Great article Jon. Really great. Makes you realize that football comes down to people and individual decisions, not just hype and ratings. I hope we keep him, but if we don't, I will respect the decision. Not sure if I would have before the article.
Thanks for the article, Jon. Now I think I understand why the coaches burned Brehaut's redshirt... Earlier this year there was uncertainty that Prince *MAY* decide to go on his mission, and since Craft is a senior, they needed to get some real game time experience for Brehaut. Now that Prince had made the decision, the issue with Brehaut is moot.
Does this make sense?
Brother anonymous, I think the article makes it clear that Prince made up his mind long before that.
Misspelling someone's name is NOT a "typo." A typo is hitting the wrong key by accident, due to fast typing, distraction, or a multitude of other reasons. For example, typing "teh" instead of "the" is a "typo."
Sheesh, typos are one thing; completely misspelling someone's name that has been spelled correctly in the papers and official websites and numerous other places for YEARS, is *NOT* a "typo." It's lazy inattention to detail, and is disrespectful.
BTW, Mr. Gold's first name is "Jon," not "John."
